Thread: So Whats the effect of the melee Defence penelty?
dueled a master commando and this is what i found, when im moving around he was barely able to hit me, and he has +110 accuracy. When i stood still for he was able to hit me with no problem most of the time.
Oh i dropped tka 3000 for 0003 which brought me up to +125 melee +155 range defense with some help from SEA. Commando give me +30 range and melee defense, and some from master marksman (not a whole lot) so i dont think i would qualify as just a regular master rifleman.

i have +80 melee defense so i shouldnt have been effected but seems i have. I think they fixed the rifle defense bugs that was made us harder to hit when he had a rifle equiped vs other weapons. Only ran missions but quenkers were not having any problems hitting me at all, before patch they missed almost everytime. Hopefully once more people get to test it on their own we can come to a more solid conclussion.
Ya I fugured that much, what I want to know is how hard it hit the stackers, if it hits the stackers hard enough then alot less pressure will be on rifleman to nerf it.
I assume if you have a rifle equiped it almost nullifies all melee defence.

Looks like accuracy while moving tapes are going to be worth a hell of alot more, the Cap for Defence is 125(Atleast thats what TH said, Or somebody with a red name) and you said when you were moving it was hard to hit you with maxxed range defence.
This should acctually benifit meleer stackerssomewhat because now they will be missed a hell of alot(Movingto getclose range) and once they get into close range if you have a Heavyweapon, rifle, or carbine equiped you should be getting hit easly.
let a melee get close and you get hammered. but defense against heavy weapons was always good because of the terrible modifiers that the comandos and BH get for their heavy weapons.
as a rifle user the way it looks in PVE is that if you dont have some way to transfer that damage to something or someone else or cant absorb it with doctor buffs your going to be in serious pain. first time i was amster rifle the 2.5x damage penalty was in full effect so i learned to fight and not get hit. i hadnt even started CH at the time and i never used armour or buffs. the second time was under the new rules which made rifles practically immune to attacks and i was master CH. now i am leveling it under the new rules as a newbie CH and a newbie riflewoman and its a different world. those that are not prepaired will be slaughtered and i predict we will see far fewer taking up the profession.
monster dont seem to have ANY problem hitting me at my level and i dont expect that to change. in a few days i imagine the folks that have joined our profession purely for the defense bug will start complaining about us having a weakness. this in my opinion is a weakness we need to have to use as an argument to offset the upcoming patch8 nerfs if any. plus it makes rifle much more interesting that it did pre-pub7
Maybe this profession can one day get back to doing damage from long range rather than tanking, and hopefully lose some of the FOTM newbies who have no clue how to play the profession.

Oh how I laughed when I saw a guildmate complain about dying even with 2k health buff when using rifle last night. (Yes I'm bitter.)

i think we are headed in the right direction. i just hope some of the golden templaters actually try to embrace our profession instead of looking for that magic I-Win Button. i would be happy if they all give it a fair shake and decide to stay. we have room for anyone who is serious about rifles and i think that the tone of our community promotes newbies staying in the profession.
what i have no tolerance for is those that take up a rifle, fire a few times, then troll the boards about how much we suck without following through or even knowing what they are talking about. i also have no tolerence for people that take up novice (novice elite combat class) and think they should be able to OwNzEr a master rifle user then come here and cry for nerfs because their cdef (insert weapon) is not as powerful as a T21 in the hands of a master.
everyone else is welcome with open arms.
By newbie I meant the ones like my poor guildmate who have gotten used to just standing there with a rifle not getting hit due to the bug, now they will have to learn to play the profession, and that is a good thing.
For my liking there are just too many people that have simply gone rifle for an "I win" button in both PvE and PvP. (Melee bug actually made more difference in PvE rather than PvP for me.)

Oh people that take up rifleman because they want to use rifles I'm fine with, it's the people that take up rifle just expecting to be good in melee, and then complain when bugs are fixed. IMO the melee defence bonus fix was LONG overdue.
