hello all.

i am post-old man, and i think i have a fair chance at getting one free branch.

problem is i am really undecided what to get as a Doc/Rifelman.

Speed? i allready have +4 tapes, and all i need is one box of speed to cap. so woudl it be a wast of my free FS branch?

Acuracy? is not RM acuracy ok as it is? will it give me a PvP advantage?

Mellee def? we dont really have any. but maybe capping speed is btr then the +20 def i can get from the melle fs branch.

anyway, plz voice your thgouht on this matter.

IF, and i mean big ifi get two branches.and i mean i needed to be very lucky, ill certainly get the speed tree first...

Speed would be the biggest benefit here - speedcapped = death god for us

***ADDITIONAL NEW INFO*** appears FS ranged speed is bugged T_T

Not so much here if you use a dxr-6 much but accuracy can crack pvp defenses a bit better so any at all helps

with our melee to hit mod melee defence is mostly negated T_T so this can help if you had a melee skill to use with it but if you have a rifle in your hand not so useful.

Because the Ranged speed branch is broken(or disabled) for now, you can forget about it. Melee defense is useless to a Rifleman without a melee profession and you're a Doctor, so damage/states shouldn't matter nearly as much to you as most others. Riflemanaccuracy is good, but it's far from perfect(especially in PvP). Ranged defense is always nice, but again, with Doctor, it's not so imperative. Thanks to DoTs though, I would likely choose the Ranged defense branch over Accuracy. If two tree are available, Ranged Defense and Ranged Accuracy for sure(until Ranged speed is fixed/allowed to work)

Definately would reccomend the FS accuracy. It's a must have for PvPers. Especially if you're packing a dxr6b.

if you want to dev your char into a jedi dont get anything that will help you as a rifleman while you get jedi, or you will kick yourself once you are a jedi and have ranged accuracy and speed and no use for them as jedi. but if you dont want jedi and just want FS skills then go what everyone else is saying, not sure if the FS speed is borked or not but it most likely is.

update: for those who are also not sure what to do, this is what i decided upon:

I did get one free branch - so i took ranged defence, will will be quest enabled only in the third phase anyway.

I then did the patrol quests for the ranged acuracy branch, and am now working on geting the xp needed to start filling boxes.

i figured, if the speed is borked / or not, we cap in one box anyway, so to waste the free branch is silly, and on the chance is its borked, get the acuracy which is certainly usefull.

so ty all for your input

look like its back to the trade forums for me to look for more tapes hehe.

ADDED IN EDIT:

one point though, being so into combat, i forgot i am also a doc. so you docs out there, might want to consider using free branches for the med treatment. it opens in phase IV only, and atm its a very very hard grind - far harder than the combat proffs. (see doc forums for discusion)

yes.

people with onlymaster rifle plus the enhanced ranged speed tree are still shooting strafe2 at once per 2.5 seconds.

i have access to a char that is a master swordsman/master brawler. with 2handed speed at 80, with a 5.5 speed hammer, headhit3 was hitting once every 3 seconds. i trained up in the enhanced melee speed tree, and am hitting at once per second on headhit3 now. this is consistent with a 2handed speed of 92.

if enhanced ranged speed were working, a rifleman without master marksman or any tapes would be speed capped.

do not take this tree. it is totally FUBAR.

Ranged Accuracy would be nice, but ...

IF YOU ARE GOING FOR JEDI, DON'T PICK RANGED ACCURACY AND DO THE COMBAT QUESTS FROM THE CAPTAIN IN THE VILLAGE.

You can only unlock one branch per stage of the village and the Captain will only unlock the ranged accuracy branch during the first phase of the village, even if you already picked that one as your freebie. I believe you can still do the reflex missions and then use rifle xp for that branch, but if you choose the Captain after you took the freebie, you are out of luck.
