Thread: Need advice for soloing with rifleman

Well, I have to admit that I'm not being very successful while hunting critters out there. I see people talking about killing tons of rancors and things like that just with a rifle. The problem is that no matter what I do, unless I use ConcealShot all the time, at the second or third shot the creatures charge towards me (even with master scout maskScent). I wonder if I'm missing something. Can you tell me how to solo big things, if possible with no buffs or armor? Thanks.

unless you are a master this is much harder then it sounds. You need to be high speed (near cap) and you need to have a weapon that the rancors fall to quick.. the dxr-6 is the best bet. Use you targeted pool shot at 50+m and stand. Usually i can kill them before they get within 20m of me.

You can do that just standing? I use my DXR6b, but I think that even usingheadshot3 all the time, the rancor will just reach me very fast and I wouldn't be able to beat it. Are you sure that works?

works all the time for me... are you speed capped?

This is weird, 'cause I solo rancors on Dath all the time as a Master with MaskScent and Conceal.
Usually, what I do is turn on MS and crawl toward them 'til I get to about 65m, which is the max range for my T-21. I wait and see if the mask holds. If it doesn't, I back off and try again. If it does hold, then I ConcealShot with a MaxDmg powerup and take them down in short order.
I'm a Wook Rifleman/Ranger, so I"m not sure if that has anything to do with my success, since you don't get extra Mask Scent sill points after Master Scout.
If you're not Master Scout, then I might suggest looking into some BE clothing with Scent Neutralization.
