Its really irratating to spend half an hour or so concealshoting an NSelder or KD only for it to start bleading near the end and have to run away b4 it agros you. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me and is there a way to stop it from happening??

While I agree some things shouldn't be able to be soloed, to answer your question, there is a chance causing a 1 tick bleed on the target w/ any shot. Something I think the devs threw in there so there would still be a bit of 'uncertainty' when taking down a target. This, among other valuable info,is also covered under all those FAQ's that are stickied to the top of this thread.

The random bleed was implemented in order to add a failure chance for riflemen when trying to solo very difficult MOBs using conceal shot. There is much speculation (many agree, but no hard facts) that the higher the wound chance on your rifle the higher your chances of landing a random bleed. The best suggestion I can give is to group with a melee type when fighting these types of MOBs as the odds of landing bleeds is fairly high in the time it takes to kill one. Also, for both elders and GDKs, kiting works very well. Most MOBs have fast and slow modes when following - if you get an elder in slow mode following you, you can easily keep her at 40+ range and drop her without ever being hurt. I've found that using hills to run up and down a few times sometimes helps to get them into "slow mode".

Not that it's of much concern to the other combat professions, but they also have a chance to randomly bleed an opponent. The only reason we don't care for it is because of concealshot. If itmakes you feel better,it is just a low-level attack(though very useful) and should not be expected to allow you to easily kill high level mobs. As a side note, I don't have numbers to back it up, but it always seemed to me that the random bleed was more frequent when using melee skills. So it could be worse

Back in our day (before buffs, armor and the nerf to the 2.5x melee damage) a smart rifleman would use bleeds along with warning shot to keep agros off of him. The only problem with that is the when the bleed ticked the agro would then come charging back to the rifleman for more to which if you were lucky you could either suppress him for the delay or add another bleed plus warning shot to send the agro on their way. One problem with this was if you weren't quick enough, missed, or the agro warped on top of you he'd bring friends if they were near him when the bleed ticked. This happened not only with the high end content (Krayts, Kimos and Night sisters) but also happened with low end creatures as well (fumbas, faction NPCs, and anything else in between). In those days, missing almost always meant an incap and/or a quick trip back to town.
