Thread: My queries about the CU

My problem with the change in armour is that I find that I still tank despite being a Master Rifleman. Does anyone else find this?

Maybe I rush in to battle toop easily but againts turrets I seem to be taking the hits still. Or maybe its because I have a more than above average set of armour currently and I worry less now. I often solo missions etc and without a few guildies present I find I tank about everything despite it being way less than optimal range...with light/scout armour I won't be able to do that at all...

Maybe this is to make us all work in groups more as I heard that was what the Devs were encouraging....

Also I just read on the Swordsman Forum that Armour Piercing is being scrapped! So what happens to my T21? Is it still a kick ass weapon?

Oh and just to say how much I love being a Rifleman and hope the Devs haven't screwed up the ONE combat prof that I LOVE!! RM kicks serious butt!

First off, yes, as a Rifleman as of right now it is still possible to tank because we suffer NO negative modifiers to shooting people at point-blank range like we do in live servers. If its in range and visible, you can shoot it without any penalties (unless its moving)

Personally I hate this, because it removes alot of tactic from the game. Why be a pistoleer if a rifle is just as good up close and does 3-4x the damage?? The current system is better suited for ranged profs in this specific regard.

What this boils down to is simply your armour. If your armour is better than so-and-so's and you do more damage...you win.

"Oh but I can apply states with my pistol!"

"Yeah well my rifle kills in two hits because I can aim this heavy four foot stick at something that is literally closer to me than the end of my barrel. State away my friend, you'll be dead ina fewseconds."

Your T21 will have the AP removed. ALL weapons are having AP removed because armour penetration made way too much sense and we cant have that. God forbid there should be any diversity in this game. However, the T21 is being moved to master now so if your T21 was good before the CU it will not be shabby after the CU.

Your comment about the scout armour is only half-true. Scout armour isnt actually 'weaker' than any other armour it just has a free energy layer built into it for additional protection against energy based attacks. If you really wanted to, you could request the armoursmith in question to insert additional kinetic layers of protection when he builds the suit for you so you can take bigger knocks from creatures. But be warned!! Newest word on this in the AS forums is that for every layer of anything you put into the armour, you trade-off with your free layer and anything else you put in.

So essentially if you put in two layers of kinetic to balance it with the energy, your energy defense goes down 2 notches for the kinetic, so people cant insert a bunch of protection layers without any downside. Its all about balance I guess, as that seems to be the running theme for the CU besides pissing everyone off.

The new armour system is okay I guess. Sure beats everyone running around in 90% resist composite.

Yeah, Rifleman is my very favorite profession in Galaxies too. I enjoy it very much, and currently in live Irelish bringing down a Dewback or a Bantha with a couple well-placed T-21 shots. Too bad when the CU hits I cant do that anymore...cause the big colored balloon and white number by his head will tell me that everything is instant death because I'm not grouped with 7 Jedi.

To all Master Riflemen out there I /salute you.

Cause our funural pyre is being prepared and I wont have much longer to enjoy it with you guys
