Thread: When the Cu goes live?

So what is going to happen, when the CU goes live? Have DEVs considered how these changes are going to affect the games economy?

Armor – Since we will only be able to use Recon armor, we are going to have to wait for the armor smith’s to make all these new sets of armor. How long is this going to take, I mean they now have what, 3 Types of Armor, 3 variations of it, and 4-5 styles. How long is it going to take Armor smith’s to collect all the new material types, produce the items, and then what’s the cost going to be? I don’t know about your server but it seems whenever something new is put into the game, crafters tend to jack the price up 10 fold.

Weapons – Just like with Armor, we are going to have the same problem with weapons or the new rifles. It wont be so bad for those of us who are already Master Rifleman, I mean we will still have our T-21’s and other weapons that are suppose to get migrated to the new weapon standards (If you believe this will work, I don’t). But how long is it going to take for all the new weapons that are being added to hit the open market? What’s the cost going to be on these new weapons?

Novice Rifleman -- But what about the poor bastid who is working his way up the Rifleman tree right now and, just spent most of his cash on a new T-21, when the CU hits, this poor guy is screwed. Instead of having the T-21 cert in novice, he now has the SprayStick and maybe the E11 depending on how far up the tree he is. He will probably still have a Laser Rifle or two but that’s not going to help him because Laser Rifle is now in the Combat EXP line of the Rifleman tree. So here we have this Novice Rifleman, who no longer has any wearable Armor, and no weapons he is certified for. If he is out of cash he is going to have to pickup Dancer (just until he/she can afford new weapons, armor, and college money).

When this gets published, I think our toon’s, are going to be somewhat broken for the first month this goes live, unless you have your own personal weapon and Armor smith.

Just something a friend and I were talking about at lunch today.

There is going to be great demand for faction armor, thus armorsmiths will rush to be the first done - $$$.

I'm sure the armorsmiths are already a step ahead. At least on my server

Speaking from a rifleman/armorsmith perspective: Armorsmiths are not prepared. The amount of hide for the new armor is being increased (for example, a full suit of mabari : 710 units of hide) just as organics harvesting is getting nerfed. Various *new* named resources are required that we have not been able to stock up on. If you have any scouting skills; harvest now. If things don't change by the time they release, hide will become the new avian meat, and armor will not be cheap.

Now that it's OK to support the removal of classes in your signature, I firmly support the removal of all the benny hill glowstick fanclub from the game; it was a lot more fun before they came.

And to make it even more interesting. Since Rangers are getting the shaft expect it to cost more to get them to gather large ammounts of the hides and bone needed.

The resource requirements do seem excessive indeed ( I am master armoursmith on the 'normal' test center, not the CU one).

However, when speeders were first put into the game, the schematic on test center required 40k of resources to make one swoop, so I wouldnt read too much into it just yet.

Just do as i did, point out it seems excessive in the feedback thingy, things do change, despite some saying the contrary.

As for armour, I would assume that when current gets converted, the option will include the abilty to change a set of comp (assault armour) into recon or whatever, that would really be the only fair way to do this.

For weapons, anyone who has got to novice rifles will have a useable weapon somewhere, be it a spraystick or an sg82, and dont forget, everything on venders will also be converted, so it isnt like there suddenly wont be any weapons to buy.

heh.... new expansion, new weapons, new armor, new combat system? I think all professions will be somewhat broken for the first month until the bugs get worked out of the system. There'll probably be plenty of equip by the time everything is working properly.
