Ihaven't been able to get on TC in a while, but it looked to me like moving cancels any special. So, to kite, you're gonna need to get way ahead of the MOB, hit a special then run again =(

I thought there was something you could fire at least ... or is EVERY shot a special, just some are more special and others cost less?

dont mind the idea that u have to stop to fire a shot it does make sense but only if the person being shot stops from the force of the hit.... if not its gona be special run special stop run and the melee guy is just gona come running in like a freight train not caring if he gets hit or not and just waiting to spamm his kd/dizzy.
ps this mite be the case but bionic parts mite stop this... i already know that commandos have gotten special commando bionic legs comming out in the rotw every time a commando fires a heavy weapon they always have to go onto one knee these specific bionic legs giv us the ability to fire heavy weapons whilest standing so until all the bionic parts and special abilites r we cant really say.

Some specials cant be fired whilst moving.
Snipershot, which in my experience seems to be the most powerful special can only be done whilst prone.
same with conceal, although kiting wouldnt ever apply to cover up/conceal anyway, that is its whole point.
But, headshot can be fired whilst moving, as can kneecap and the lower end specials like placed shot.
Also remember, you move MUCH slower with a rifle equipped, a tk can easily catch you up, (Unsure of movement penalties for othe proffs, but I think swords are close to our levels, with others haveing less of a reduction) , and armour, should you choose high protection advanced cores and not have sufficient mitigation, also reduces movement speed.
Kneecap shot however, does slow the target down quite a lot, so kiting is still possible, although I honestly dont think it is the most effective way of killing mobs at all.

Moving will break the warm-up time of a special. So you can use all specials not having a warm-up time while kiting.

This includes most of the marksman specials and some of the rifleman specials (like headshot.. or was it kneeshot... I need my morning coffee)

currently the effect on specials lasts around 1 millsec... well kneecap shot seems to do bugger all...

Exactly. In other words, a melee-centric game again. Yippee.

Actually, you are supposed to use your specials to slow down melee fighters chasing you I would think.

If you are thinking of using kiting as a tactic I'd recommend taking some of the first line in scout that gives you terrain negotiation. Plus you can get travel biscuits from chef. These two things will seriously help. Then if they still work after CU and you can loot them or afford to buy them, get some TN SEAs
