Thread: NPC AI Balancing?

In an effort to test out the balancing that was reportedly done with last nights patch, I headed off to Dantooine to try missions in my own stomping ground. In live, I'm a rifleman commando and live on dant, so I figured it would be an appropriate place to test.

On arriving at the mining outpost, I attempted to clone, only to find that I couldn't "see" the cloning terminal to use it - soI couldn't clone.

Ignoring this, I hopped off to the mission terminal to see what I could get.

Being a level 80 toon, I pulled 2 mokk missions from the terminal, listed as "level 81" and headed out to the mission.

Sure enough, I spot my target - 2 Mokk hunters and their lair - both yellow conn at level 81.

I go prone.

Hit cover.

Hit cover again.

And again.

(it fails with no error message)

And again.

I check there isnt anything around that could stop me covering - there isnt.

Finally get into cover.

Crawl into range (note that you now cannot tell the mobs range until you are actually in range)

Hit my improved conceal shot

Warm up bar runs down.

No shot goes off.

Do it again.

Warm up bar runs down.......

My T21, makes a dull thumping sound, sounding like I'm hitting something with a pillow, rather than ahoofing greatblaster.

The Mokks health takes a little dip, then immediately starts to regenerate.

Both Mokks then make a bee-line for my covered position - they get to 15 meters and I'm revealed.

I get up, smack kneecap shot and make a run for some distance, while hitting headshot.

What do you mean "too tired"????

I glanced at my action bar, to find it slowly crawling up from 0. After 3 or 4 shots.

I try and get away from the Mokks, while pulling my flamer out to try and get some close range advantage.

I get hit 3 or 4 times with a stone knife, which slices right through my assault armour - then I'm on my way to the cloner.

The above sequence of events is repeated several times.

Either, the AI still needs tweaking, or my entire guild is going to have to pack up our metropolis and move to a starter planet, lestwe find ourselvesunder siege from cavemen and particularly vicious canines.

Not to mention that the defining abilities of the riflemanare more likely to kill you rather than your target.

Not impressed.
