I've been seeing a lot of templates that have Master Pistoleer with the Bounty Hunter Pistol Line. I'm considering making a Master Rifleman with Bounty Hunter Pistol Line. My reasoning: The ability to heal mind damage in the field may be added at some point and the damage reduction means that people ARE going to close on someone with a rifle.Pistol range has to be nerfed eventually, but even if it isn't, this template has good long range and short range options. Thistemplate would allow me todosuperior mind damage at range, then switch to pistol at close range and continue to do mind damage with eye-shot.

Full Template Layout:

Marksmen 4/4/4/4 - Master Marksman

Rifleman 4/4/4/4 - Master Rifleman

Scout 4/4/4/4 - Master Scout

Bounty Hunter 0/0/4/0

Pistoleer - Novice

Creature Handler - Novice

Pistol Up Close > Spraystick Up Close

You'll have greater accuracy and you won't have the big defence penalty.

I was thinking of going a very similar template, except getting Carbine 1 in BH for the knockdown. How useful will novice CH be? I have it now and it seems the only thing I can tame will have 750 Health when fully matured.

THEY WILL NOT ADD THE ABILITY TO HEAL MIND DAMAGE IN THE FIELD.

Consider: Medics would be able to heal they're own mind so they would never have to rest. You could have 2 medics sitting healing eachother to powerlevel... they won't do it.

That would work, bieng how easy it is to switch weapons. Ive actually considered doing this, so at close range I have something that does mind damage, besides melee of course. The onlyproblem is, you would not get theaccuracy (already have speed) the other pistoleers get. I wouldnt suggest getting carbine 4 in marksmen tree.I would suggest getting pistoleer and gonig up it a bit, to get better accuracy ect.

Im going to check this spec out, I have been planning ongoing doctor, for rez, and cure disease/poison, becuase my guild needs that, and cure disease/poison will help alot inwhen Im solo, not to mention I can buff myself . But im going to seewhat else I could get if Idid that spec. Like I demand atleast novice medic, and FA2.

The only think I find lacking in the template is the ability to heal yourself.

I am rifleman/BH now. My final template will be Master Marksman, Master Scout, Master Rifleman, Novice Medic and BH pistol to 3. That uses every point.

So far I really like the combo. Eye Shot does some sick damage quickly. I say I average about 600 a shot with it, I have broken nine on some targets. I am using a 122 to 169, 2.1 scatter. The only thing I dont like is if something does close on me it does to much damage and I lose a lot of rifle xp. But that is changing now that I am finally getting my speed up with rifle.

I wouldnt take novice creature handler. With the patch a non CH can field the same level pet as a Novice CH, lvl 15 pet. You would still need someone to train all the commands for you so you might as well just buy the pet trained and save yourself the 6 pts. If you are not going ot take medic I would say take the pistol knock down move, it is supposed to be great. I would suggest taking Medic though. Scatter pistols eat up your HAM pretty quickly. It costs me 64 for each Eye Shot and they come quickly. Just my 2 cents.

EagleEyessss - how far along are you on the BH/rifleman path? I'm planning on doing the same thing except no medic, just master rifleman and BH pistol 4/carbine 3. I'd like to take medic but I'd definately want first aid if I was spending the 15 points on novice medic. So I think I'll take medic out completely and work instead on avoiding the damage in the first place. Another choice would be to drop the BH carbine skills and instead take novice pistoleer and pistol whip. I guess that might depend more on what they do to knockdowns in the patch.

Anyways, I really like the idea of doing massive mind damage both from a distance and up close, and still being able to do good health damage while grouping with pistoleers. And if issues with range are ever fully addresed, such that pistols aren't so accurate from 64m, I'd be very well of in in both types. Really, the only thing missing is medic, but to get first aid would requiring dropping not only all of the BH carbine skills, but all but one box of BH pistol (losing eye shot in the process). So the only other way is to not take rifleman up to master, but it sounds like rifleman is an end-game class and really benefits from mastering it.
