I've been reading so many posts about the CU recently that my head is spinning. Perhaps this has been addressed and I missed it...

What's the final verdicton the "/target " command while the target is under cover? Is ita bug that we can reasonably expect to be fixed?

Or is the official line...,

*ahem*

"This is a bug that has been brought to our attention. We have had a great response to the CU and look forward to adding to the rifleman profession in the "Rifleman Upgrade". We expect it soon, after the Jedi Upgrade, the GCW Upgrade, the Smuggler Upgrade, the Ranger Upgrade, the Creature Handler Upgrade, the Doctor Upgrade, and the CU #2 Upgrade (to ensure balance and fun). From the TC surveys we have seen thus far, it is clear to us that the response to the current CU is very upbeat and we are happy to continue to make SWG a game that is positive, balanced, and a game that all professions will enjoy."

$15/mo......

Ackehece, I cannot possibly express to you how much I appreciate your candid reponse as well as your difficult position as a corr.

I know that the corrs went into theCU with an open mind and much hope for SWG (as did I). I have been following not only this forum but the forums of the professions that I have previously masterd and have tried my best to keep an adult and open mind about the CU. Perhaps you cannot say it, but it is clear to me that the corrs have done their job very well and yet still have many reservations about the future of SWG. For what it is worth, (no flames please) Ican seethat the programers/devs have worked hard too. I have NO NDA, and I hope this does not get deleted, but I am very worried that the CU is going live to meet the demands of the Movie release and ROTW for marketing puroses. I say this with confidance due to the very candid comments of Correspondents in the other boards who "dance" around saying exactly this.

I WANT a CU, but only after testing and imput, however long it takes...

Once again, I offer a very heartfull "thank you" to the corrs, In the last several weeks I have seen many of you push the limits of yourpositions (both to SOE and to the players).

I very much hope that all will work out in the end.

For what ever it is worth...

I'll /second all that you said akflyer. I played a fair bit on TC-Ep3 since they put it up... I've seen the devs make some progress on some things, and add in more bugs (as is expected in a beta) on other things. The fact that they have decided to push this to live now just screams that the dev team, SOE, or some other big fish is demanding that the CU+ROTW ships to coincide with Episode 3.

It makes sense... With a little SWG marketing mixed in with Ep3 spots on TV, or even in the ads/trailers before the movie itself at theaters, they stand to draw in a *lot* of new players. I just hope that while they are at it, they don't tick off an overwhelming number of current players that don't want to pay to finish out the "beta" on the live servers.

I forsee a large mess with item conversion, character respec (I feel a little better about this since I saw the email saying we get 2 weeks), and glaring UI bugs etc. that a large percentage of live players will not be patient with.

I think that using your paying player base for a bit of beta-type polishing/testing is terrible, and is basically a fact of life for MMOs, but this is really pushing the limits. I myself don't mind sticking it out, but I'm worried about losing lots of friends, aquaintances, and enemies that end up saying "screw this" and hitting the cancel button. If that happens I guess all I can hope for is that their market research really follows through and we get a big surge of new players (for whom the stability will have levelled out, lets hope) to fill in things on some of the already ghosttown-like galaxies.

Its an interesting, and pretty scary, time.
