Thread: Convince me to go rifleman!
Goin with either master rifle or master pistols with master bh...
Need some input from vet rifleman as to why you guys think rilfes is superior to pistols for hunting npc marks. Its clear that rilfeman will do more damage but just how much more we talkin? Some specific advice on how you would approach a fight against a npc mark would be very helpful...

unfortunately I could not in all honestly convince you that rifles is better then pistols for bh. Pistols actually do more damage per second then rifles if the target is strong. our strength is our range not our dps or crowd control.
otoh: how we would approach your mark
(

/concealshot
/concealshot
)this top step is optional since most AI now breaks conceal almost instantly - so testing is warrented
/snipershot
/bh knockdown
/startleshot
/snipershot
/stand
/ - use whatever you like from this point on - /

Thanks for the advice. Very useful.
I should not have said "if the target was strong" It should read "if the target has a insanely huge ham"
the lower sac requirements on pistols means they can continue to fire specials one after another for longer then we can and can recover thataction faster then we can while using low sac specials.
Strong (as in higher defenses) we can hurt them more initially until we run out of action.

So for these new boss npc marks with high ham and high regen rates would you think the lower damage/low sac of pistols is better than high dam/higher sac of rifles. My impression is that the higher minimum damage on rifles makes a big difference in these higher end mobs....
I would ask in the BH forum but from what I am seeing pistols appear to be the weapon of choice lately. Most pve creatures and npc's don't have high defenses just high hams. I don't know about elite marks and such as I do not play a Bh very often.
Personally, I was one of the Master Pistoleer/Rogue/Desperado/Novice Commandos (could use every pistol in the game) Pre-CU. It was fun, but once the CU hit and my cl equalled out to 67, I decided to change. I picked up Master rifles, dropped the smuggler pistol line, all of pistoleerand novice commando and finished up the bh profession for the extra content. I do miss pistols on occassion, but its nothing I can't remedy. If I get low on action now, I just start using the ranged shot/headshot combo. If its still not regenning fast enough, I can equip a scatter or fwg5. Pistoleers biggest weapon has been its root...but now that root doesn't apply to some higher end mobs, it kinda lost some of its luster. I prefer the range and damage output over the root and lower sac (the sac doesn't really apply since anyone can use a pistol if they meet the req's). Speed isn't even an issue anymore. My damage/sac capped HLR has a modded speed of .98 with a speed pup. If you can control your action usage, you'll be good to go.
On a side note, play what you think you would enjoy. I'm loving my MBH/MRifles/CM4000 and doubt I'll change anytime soon.

With the new ham regen the pistols and carbines are once again taking the lead
Rifleman all the way.
Idid some repsecing and found that with pistols i just couldnt deal enough damage. This is just my opinion.
Opening with a couple conceal shots then a sniper stand and finish them off. Although take into consideration that the AI now is having BH marks engage with melee more. So at this time Pistols would offer some melee defense in the templete that would be worth having.
I have had rifles for 2 years now I have gone and returned. pre CU and Post.
I made a mistake of dropping Rifles. I wont make the mistake again... Just finished the grind back to it. Once you have it youll never leave it...

except that the melee defense mod actually means nothing while you hold a pistol or any ranged weapon.
