Thread: Need some help in tweaking my template

I need some advice on switching my template around.
I am currently a Master Rifleman/Master Doctor and am speed capped with rifles.
I am keeping Master Rifleman and looking at going to 0440 in Doctor, so that frees up
some skill points. I would like to get some defenses or add to my damage as currently I
can dish out a fair bit of damage but usually take alot of damage as well. I am looking at 4 different scenarios, and would like the opinions of other Master Rifleman out there

1/ Is the 0030 in Pikeman which would put me at Block +140/Ranged Defense +77/Melee Defense +50
2/ Is the 0003 In TKA which would put me at Block +70/Ranged Defense +102/Melee Defense +50
3/ Is the 3000 In Fencer which would put me at Block +70/Ranged Defense +126/Melee Defense +94
4/ Is the 4004 Combat Medic which gives me +65 to CM Effectiveness and +75 to CM Healing range/Block +70/Ranged Defense +78/Melee Defense +42
With the 4th option howeffective would I be as a Combat Medic/Master Rifleman, or is it better to choose one of the other three for the defenses
Any help would be appreciated !!!

If you're dropping down to the "combat doc" template, I'd recommend dropping to 4030 instead of 0440 - this gives you the added defensive abilities of cure state, cure poison, and cure disease.Being able to buff is nice, but you will already not be buffing at the same level as a master doc so you will more than likely want to get your buffs elsewhere anyways.
After that it's completely up to you and your preferences - you're not going to get a ton of defense regardless of where you spend the skill points, but you can get more skills that will make you more effective. I personally like the combat doc template with TKA meditate and force of will, so I recommend 4000 TKA - that does not necessarily increase any of your defensive stats though.
You can get some nice defenses if you go for pistol tech (0040 pistoleer), arguably the best spent defensive skill points available. That would leave 15 skill points left over for novice brawler which personally is the best 15 skill points I believe a ranged combatant can have - being able to intimidate with a rifle equippedis priceless in my opinion.
Increasing your melee defense and melee mitigation when you're not going to have a melee weapon ever equipped is not worth it in my opinion - you will not get any benefit unless you have a melee weapon equipped so I personally recommend throwing those ideas out unless you are going only for the other stat defenses - e.g. def vs blind, stun, intim etc.
Another thing to note is that if you stack pikes with rifles, you will still hit the cap at 125 block, so the extra 15 points of block above 125 will not count, so I would recommend not getting the pike line if you are trying to increase your block.
