Thread: Question for Master rifleman on pvp
Master riflemen have no equal in large-scale PvP, really. Strafe2 averages around 2K raw damage (PvE) with a decent laser, which translates to 500 points of AR2 damage to everyone in the cone. Master riflemen can fire this every 2s or so (1s if you're a master marksman also), so you can very quickly cut down a large group if they're kind enough to stack themselves. On one-on-one we're not as good, and we're particularly vulnerable to melee pets. But while your mind pool lasts you can rip apart clusters of enemies very easily, far more easily than any other class.
We certainly have issues, but there are situations where there just isn't a substitute for a master rifleman.
My roomate is a Master Pistoleer, we spent a little over an hour dueling each other, Yes I am a master rifleman with a T21 150ish 580 sliced/poweruped. We were both wearing full suite of Composite at around 42-54% resists.
The results were amazing and suprised me greatly.
Within 20 meters if he was using an FWG5 greatly enhanced over a Dx2, Iwon 6 straight times in a row. He would suppression fire me get close and knock me down but I would still get up and shoot him down, this worked with either strafeshot2 OR HS2 cause HS3 is a waste. My armor blocked nearly all the weapons damage.
Then he switches to his Dx2 which is Armor Piercing1, he won 9 straight times, my armors effectiveness was greatly reduced.
At 45 meters+ he has about a snowballs chance in hell* to beat me.
Basically what I am trying to say, is with the appropriate armor/weapons each class is extremely balanced vs one another at their respective distances, as it should be. Speed wise Master Rifleman gains abouta6 second advantage over someone that doesnt have master, which basically the way I feel about it is that I can pull my trigger just as **edit** fast as anyone else why should I be slower?Anyone that complains otherwise was trying to killthe Masterrifleman at45+ meters.Alsohaving master marksman means absolutely jack crap too if any of you believe the previous poster. If your not a master Rifleman, get ready to get your a** kicked even at45+meterscause that 7 seconds between shots is going to get you killed.
PS
istoleers Should get two pistols and use twice the HAM, but miss everysingletime outside of 35 meters duelweilding.

I thought Master Marksman gave a you a +10 Accuracy and a +5 speed? Is that enough to make it worth it over just going for Rifleman? Otherwise, I could use the points elsewhere.
I believe this is correct. I am not completely positive about the accuracy bonus, but I know that you do get a +5 to speed. The reason that +5 to speed *can* have an effect is that all of the +'s to speed seem to be a percentage reduction in refire time. In other words, if you have +50 to speed and are using a rifle with a speed of say, 6, you will actually be firing it every 3 seconds. I am not 100% positive that this is the way it works, but it seems to be the general consensus. The other thing to keep in mind is that if your speed boosts are going to reduce your rate of fire to less than 1 second, you are capped out at that speed.
Now, at master rifleman alone, you will have +90 to speed. Add the +5 from master marksman, and you will have +95. Now, assuming that the percentage formula is correct, at master rifleman alone you will be able to fire 1 shot per second on any special that doesn't multiply your weapon speed to be greater than 10. With an additional 5% reduction from master marksman, you will be shooting once per second on any net speed of less than or equal to 20.
I don't have master marksman myself, and I shoot pretty much every special except strafe2 at 1/sec. Strafe2 is 1 every 2 seconds. This works just fine for me, being a mostly PvE person. However, if you really want to maximize damage output, I think that getting master marksman (or a skill enhancer that adds to rifle speed) may be the way for you to go. Decision is up to you.
Lechombre's numbers are right in regards to speed... as a master rifleman I fired HS3 at about 1 shot every 2 seconds... after mastering marksman also I fire it every second.. I can kill 90% of the people out there in 2-3 shots with my T21 of HS3.. 2-3 seconds...because most people don't have very high mind stats, and also, although it's only another +10 accuracy it seems to mean alot more in regards to accuracy also. I find master marksman to be very useful... but if you decide to go master marksman you won't be able to go master doctor, or master ranger which alot of people look to do... I decided to go the Master Rifleman/Master CH route so I did have the skill points to pick up Master Marskman also and I really like it ![]()
I've dueled a few BH one on one with just each of usfiring mind shots becauseI wanted to see how well eye shot did vs. head shot 3.. never lost yet since hitting master marksman/master rifleman..still though HS3's HAM usage needs to be fixed ![]()
Really though, in PvP I don't think we're that great one on one,we don't get a knockdown, and have the big melee penalty.. still though I canusually win one on one just because of pure damage, bh's, smullers, and commando's are hard.. pure pistoleers are an absolute joke and it requires a considerable amount of luck for one to win against me.We do excel though in team PvP at master because of sniper shot, strafe shot 2, head shots, and mind bleeds. Just make sure to get the hell out of there if they start going after you.
