Thread: A couple of TH quotes, Any thoughts or comments?
HmmI thinkthisis the first time I've started a thread on here in a while, I mostly just respond to other peoples posts. However after being able to read TH's posts again I found a couple of interesting / pleasing / worrying posts.
First off thegood / weird / greatnews, "TH, doesn't it seem strange that a weapon (certified at novice Rifleman) is unavailable and extremely rare?
Well on Rifles in general I had a tough time and I felt a lot of the pain. I know T-21s are hard to come by because some of the resources are rare. Now if that were the only issue, it could be an easy fix, but you know, I know (and the devs know) that a combat balance in general needs to take place. Its in the works, but I dont want to talk about it because its not going to happen until after vehicles launch, but yes, its a problem and yes, good stuff is coming. More rifles and more functionality is coming..."
and theworrying "In your honest opinion, what do you think of the ranges?
Melee is very cool. Pistols are very cool. Carbines have some problems. Rifles have some problems."
The T21 issue being known isgreat news. Adding more rifles, fantastic!
Personally I'm a bit worried about some of the other comments, novices DO need help, however giving them the type of help that the Devs seem to dish out might bring riflemen as a whole a major nerf in the long run. I'm sorry but balancing the game based on novices and then worrying about masters is just wrong, it's much smarter IMO to give novices the type of help that won't unbalance masters. Yes there are ways I can think of to do this.
If our range is increased so that we can use AEs and mind bleeds at over 64m god help any other class in the game, riflemen will become the new "insert FOTM class".
Well any thoughts? Flames? Crys of joy? ![]()
(One day I'm going to have to learn HTML so I can take all the junk out when quoting Dev posts.)
Now if that were the only issue, it could be an easy fix, but you know, I know (and the devs know) that a combat balance in general needs to take place. Its in the works
This part worries me because it pretty muchimplies the speed issue in my opinion. Now, if with a speed cap we get something like increased range, then I guess that would be something to consider, but the way changes seem to come, a speed cap will come one month, then 3 months later they would do something else.
Sounds like a nerf is coming our way, I would rather have the devs forget about the entire profession. Maybe it will be the 3 second cap, maybe some other form of sadistic punishment, but I feel a nerf.
I just want this profession to be left alone, as is it's pretty good. Without BAF problems Novice Riflemen have a mucheasyer time and Master Rifleman is what a Master in every weapon should be, a huge improvement from novice.

Anyone else find it a f***ing shame that additional content is a higher priority than game balance? Even when the game balance this severe. (By game balance I'm referring to crafters as well as combaters, plus just about everythign else.)

Yes I find it a shame.
Now weither or not its a good Idea is a differant Issue, The Devs have to keep intrest going in a rather boring game (at times). With society as it is now and everyone in such a **edit** rush to GO from Point a to point b it doesn't suprise me at all that they will push content over balance.
So they swing the nerf bat before adding more content and you get a large number of very loyal customers chapped to all h3ll with ya. (aka speed capping rifleman/pikeman) which further makes the "l33t d00d" even more cocky, because we all know they won't adjust damages , they can't and won't because of pvp whiners.
I understand fully that devs need to pay attention to the Popular classes because they have the loudest voice and beotch the most . On the other hand they can't ignore the other classes because those other classes (I would bet my rifle on it) are the Bread and Butter players that will keep playing and paying.
So there is a fine line they must walk between Pissing of the Most Common Classes and getting a Bitch fest the likes of which Vader would have a hard time controling or Completely Ignore the Lower classes and have thier most loyal fan/gamer base say F-it and Cancel.
By shoving content down your throats they are asking for even more problems and even further gaps in balance of Combat professions.
I can't really comment on the crafting end of things.

Compared to everything else written, this is the thing that scares me the most. Balance is already completely out of whack in this game, and the fact that they are still using their resources to add more content instead of fixing totally broken/useless classes and doing this combat re-balancing. I dont know, maybe its just me, but I'm not too enthusiastic about paying for this game for 9 months for everything to be fixed while they role out new features so magazines can eat it up and hopefully bring in new subscribers. Quite possibly, if they were fixing the core gaming issues, there wouldnt be such a pressing need for new subscribers. But I'm a paying customer (lol, at least till Jan 28th), what would I know?

That tells me Kiss the Speed at Master Goodbye, and *cough* they aren't gonna up our damage to compensate for it, they might lower mind costs, and increase accuracy but its still getting the shaft.
Of course this is all speculation at this point.
