Thread: Warping?

I haven't had a mob warp on me since the last large patch...I mostly do rebel faction missions, but still hunt creatures too, mostly on Rori. I'm not claiming it's fixed, but I'm curious what other people are experiencing.

My experience matches yours. I've been hunting on Endor since the patch, which is Tree Central(tm), and thus a prime area for MOB warping. So far, nada.

I do know that I have warped almost consistantly since the patch. (every time I go prone)

I also warp bakc a fiew steps when I try to exit the cloning center. (gee, I wonder why I was in there?)

Everything fine for me. Not a single creature warp so far. At least none that I could not attribute to the horrible LAG that seems to be "normal" now.

And actually, only very very few instances of myself warping as well. They could also be from the lag. But then again, I have surrendered all my ranger skills, and my warping almost stopped as soon as I did that...

I have warped almost ever time I go prone since then. I find this more annoying than the creatures warping toward me. At least they're still in range.

Ditto on me warping. Yesterday I was prone and warped into the hill!!! That's right...dirt all around me. Only in SWG can you shoot through dirt!!!

Since the patch I still warp, and more often than usual it seems. Usually around 20m back, and SOMETIMES it seems to happen when I am prone and hit a movement key I zip back.

If I could figure out how to do it ~on demand~ it would be a great trick for moving 20m away from a target that's advancing slowly (instead of getting up, running back and going prone at 64m only to have the critter keep walking and be at 50m again before I can fire a second time)....

Actually Ive found most critters warping Away from me.But not just out of range but back where i found them, namely their nest and once they do they immediately get fully healed on every single HAM bar.

I have noticed significantly less creature warping, but not a complete elimination of it. Shortly after the patch, I was being chased by one Snorbal around some buildings, and a second was also pursuing further back. When the second lost sight of me due to an intervening building getting between us, it did warp around it, but it was not the normal warp on top of me for no reason warp. It just appeared in front of the building much quicker than it should have been able to. So there appear to be some cases where warping will still occur, but I agree that I have not had a single creature warp on top of me since the patch.

That said, the issue of creature warping and the one of uswarping after going prone are two separate issues that only seem similar. The former is likely caused by the system trying to find a path to you and giving up and just moving the creature to where it thought it should be by then. The latter is likely caused by the change in posture causing the system to lose track of where you are and moving you back to a last known good point (more like a client/server disagreement). But what ever the latter cause, it is not the same as the former, so try not to lump the two issues together. What fixes one will not likely have any effect on the other.

Also, there is a reasonably effectiveworkaround to the go prone and warp issue.Simply wait a few seconds before going prone. I have found that, if I wait 3 to 4 seconds before going prone, I will not warp upon going prone. The person who originally suggested this in a post also suggested a delay of around 4 seconds, but a few others have indicated it takes a bit longer for them. It may not be practical in all circumstances to wait before going prone, but this does seem to be the only consistent thing that works for me now.

After playing some more this week...all the way to master rifleman....I've still not had a mob warp on top of me.

Sotaudi is right though, I wasn't referring to the 'prone warp' bug....that bug is stillalive and well...I warp often when going prone, as recently as this morning.

Hopefully though, we can now take the 'mob warping' issue off our listand let the devs know it is fixed so that it doesn't get accidently 'unfixed'.
