Ok so I've got a 150-450 or so t21...

against a mob that has armor : none and 80% resists my combat window reports damage of 1400 the floaty number above the mobs head reports 350 or so.

Against a mob that has armor : none and 25% resists (same types as mob above) my combat window reports damage of 1400 and the floaty number above the mobs head is 2200 or so.

Just wondering where the heck this difference is coming in.

I understand that the 80% is lowering the damage by that much but its a ap3 weapon!

Thanks

According to how I understand it, you should be seeing:

80% resist person = 1400 * .2 * 1.25^3 = 350

20% resist person = 1400 * .75 * 1.25^3 = 2051

Does this sound about right? how accurate are your numbers?

AAARRGHHH.. my memory is shot!! Save me Seflyn! Save me Somebody!

Beloware ALL the factors that GO into the determination of the final (actual) damage...

I just can't remember which ones are BEFORE the combat window value and which ones are

appliedAFTER the combat window valuue...

-- The actual value of the shot your gun generates (some value between min damage and max damage)

-- A standard 1.5 shot modifier on all shots

-- The Damage Multiplier depending on your shot (HeadShot 2 = 2.5x, StrafeShot2 = 5x, etc)

Are all of the above accounted for already in the Combat Window value?

-- The AP vs. AR multiplier: 1.25 if +1, 1.56 if +2, 1.96 if + 3

(IF animal is "vulnerable" to the energy type, then the AP vs. AR is IGNORED... No Bonus!!)
-- The resists of the Beast: above total value reduced by beastie resistance %

Best Possible Example:
Your T21 (AP3) vs. MOB with 10% energy resists and AR0, and your gun fires a max 450StrafeShot2...

Actual Damage = 450 x 1.5 x 5 x 1.96 x 0.90 = 5953 actual damage

Worst Possible Example:

Your T21 (AP3) vs. MOB with 80% energy resists and AR3, and your gun fires a min 150 StrafeShot2...

Actual Damage = 150 x 1.5 x 5 x (1) x 0.20 = 225 actual damage

Pardon all the colors.. just tyring to stress some points....

I am sorry. I didn't mean to sound like I was by any means flaming you. I'm not even a rifleman yet, but was trying to make sense of things. I had never even heard of the 1.5 multiplier. I just knew that there were damage increases in Two-Handed Swordsman, and I don't know how they worked, but figured that this would explain them.

I am much more worried about how the AR affects damage, as that is the one thing I can control, what type of gun I'm using, and your post went a long way in clearing that up for me. I thought you applied the AR multiplier first, then resist, but it seemed the math matched the observed results going the other way. I read the post on thisbeing different from the almighty dev described formula, butfigured it was outdated, since things change so often.

I thought that the 1.5 standard shot multipier only came at master (Rifle Damage +50) I only assumed that's what the extra damage +'s were for, since I know that's what they do in doctor.

Thanks tho!

Darylr... There is a saying you may have heard: "familiarity breeds contempt". That is my problem currently with rifleman. I used to be really into the rifleman forum last year and was always "up" on the numbers for stuff like this, but I just started taking stuff for granted, and if little things have changedin the past three months I am probably not aware of them!!

The point being that the 1.5 shot multiplier used to be game-wide.... Master had nothing to do with it. It may be possible that that has changed andI am not aware of it.

That is why I evoked Seflyn's spirit at the top of my post. He too used to be completely knowledgeable of all things rifle, and may still be.
