Thread: My predicament

Having started rifleman currently 2-0-0-1, and this has taken an absolute age; I'm now thinking of ditching the lot and progress into commando or pistoleer.

Do you think this is a smart move or should I stick it out..?

Quenkers are fun but they run up pretty quick and the close combat range mod's for rifles are really poor.

Thanks for your help,

Pepi

Get Concealment 1 for concealshot then use this to rush up the counter sniping tree to flushing shot 2 (after that get in a rancor group on dath and spam FS2 with a disrupter). The rest is personal choice. I have actually found the Krayt Valley (not the dragons) a great source of xp and it's a bit more varied than quenkers all the time (I want to enjoy my grind to master, no be bored with it). Lots of things to kill, plenty of spawns and they are not too difficult. I average around 75k-100k an hour there.

Don't give up the profession if you enjoy it. If you are just doing it as its the FoTM then I suggest you try Pikeman, I hear it rocks......

I was rifleman 2/0/0/0 for a long time as I was deciding what to do with my build. Played with Creature Handler, Smuggler, Commando, etc etc, but I always kept coming back to Rifleman and came to love the weapons. Finally I got down to it and decided on Master Rifleman/Armorsmith to be able to fight and build my own armor suited to my tastes (super low encumb, triple layer, advanced composite, hehe). But once I really got into the profession and started using Conceal Shot everything became a lot easier to kill solo. Conceal Shot does exactly what its suppose to do against mobs. The only time you have to worry is if you miss a target 2 or more times ina row because then the mobs will attack you.

I say if you want to get xp fast in rifleman, stick with white star mobs and get Concel Shot for the moment. Also (A MUST HAVE FOR RIFLEMAN) get Ranged Support 1 so you can use the Aim command. Macro itwith Conceal Shot and you will notice a significant difference in the number of times you miss/hit a mob. Rifleman get +100 to the aim command at Master. Hence I almost never miss even at point blank with a T21 or any other rifle. With Range Suppot 4 add another 30 for a whopping total of +130 to the Rifle Aim Command. Also alway be in the prone position when using rifles except when you're being attacked at point blank, then kneel (DON'T RUN, BECAUSE WE CAN'T HIT ANYTHING WHILE RUNNING) and slap on on your armorto fight it out. Once you get Conceal Shot get a Jawa Ion Rifle, your favorite T21 (I have 9), and a case of brandy, and head out to the Droid Engineer's Cave on Lok. Once you are therekill everythingthe right wing (105k rifles xp in 1 hour) of the cave first since it loops back around to the entrance then do the left wing (150-200k rifle xp for the whole wing). You can solo the entire cave using only your T21 and your new Aim_ConcealShot Macro except for one part where you have to be less than 20m from 4 droidekas, but that is wherethe Jawa Ion Rifle comes in. Yes,it will take longer to kill each droideka but at 20m and under it is more accurate than a T21 and the droidekas are vulnerable to the damage type. The cave also has some great sniping positions that are at ideal ranges for a T21.

How to use your xp? I say finish up the sniper tree first since you're already at Sniping 2 and make the most out going out to the cave since it will increase your rifle concealment chance and accuracy. With Sniper 4 you can max out your rifle xp at 300k and go train 2-3 boxes at a time and work up the Rifle Abilities tree as you get the combat xp. With this you can master rifleman in just a couple days or even just a few hardcore hours of playing.

I suggest it if you are going for master. Otherwise don't bother because the difference between master and non is HUGE.

You'll probably be better off with rifle at the moment over pistol or commando, but with the combat revamp coming up it may change.

I agree, try out the conceal shot first before you decide. Then after you decide to keep it, go to endor and solo...whatever you feel like and get 2 - 4k ep.

I was close to ditching Rifleman, but I needed something to compete with people in groups and pvping plus i needed money and i can sell my loot for a lot.

Plus I think the game gets just a tad bit better once you master something elite. you can go around without any real trouble really, unless its something REALLY hard.

And right now im working my way up TK so I can be even better at dueling and killing things.

Trust me Rifleman is worth it.
