I think that melee and ranged defenses make you harder to hit as opposed to actually reducing damage against you...is that correct? Thanks!

BTW, info from klawlegna (via Keldarin) says that the +125 hard cap will be removed after the combat revamp when the numbers never equal 100% chance of hit/miss. I'm beginning to plan now

You can think of melee and ranged defenses are the target's counter to the attacker's aim modifiers, so, yes, they make you harder to hit.

Cap being removed, but there will never be a 100% chance to hit or miss?
