Thread: Ideal Rifleman stats?

Hey Riflemen! As in my sig, I have lots of experience with a carbine. However, I've been using carbines since a few weeks into the game, originally wanted to be a Smuggler, so since Day 1 upto a few weeks into the game when I picked up carbine, I had been using pistols. Anywho, as mentioned in my sig, I'm a BH. And while grinding up to MM, I realized I liked rifles, of course, this was almost a year ago, but I never really wanted to give up my MC/BHC.

Well, now I'm sick of looking at my human's face. I went to an MID, got a look, still didn't change anything. While grinding up Carbineer, I was an artisan...hated it. So, I have decided to throw away Jek Rendar of Starsider and create a new non-human, non-TKM character, built around Master Rifleman. (The only reason why I want to stay on SS, is because I'm gonna use Jek's money, house and clothes for my new character...and all my friends are on SS.)

However, I've never made a real character before the age of doctor's buffs and armor, so I'm curious, do stats really apply to Riflemen? I was playing around and am curious. Is it better to have stats spread out evenly, if mastering another combat profession other than Rifleman? Ie, I was thinking about mastering Pikeman or Pistoleer to compliment my close range skills.

Or, is it better to have mind-heavy stats and just to use buffs for other stats when grinding the non-rifleman profession? If that's the case, then would it be wise to play Mon Cal or Zabrak?

Thanks guys.

Shoot sorry about the triple-post, don't know what happened.

Mods, if you could delete the other two, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and sorry about that. Hardly post here, that's why I registered late too, even though, I've been playing since Day 1.

your best bet as a rifleman?

hootman. 400/400/400 400/400/400 and 1000/1000/1000.

it's arguable, but since mind buffs are based on basic stats, you're best set with the human flexibility. HA stats (and secondaries) are easily taken care of with doc buffs.

the buff/armor system is likely to see changes... sooner or later.

for now, mind is key. max it, buff it, drink brandy, and godspeed.

You need focus and lots of it. In fact when you are hunting pretty much anything less than a1400 focus running is not going to be too playable. Getting 1500 is your goal. I play a Zabrak myself so I know the pain I had to go through to get that. With a 500 focus base I have to use 2 brandy +400 ea, 2 Ahrisa +400 ea, and wear armor with total mind encumbrance of less than 600 to keep me running at 1500 at all time. If you don't mind spending the extra cash for Ahrisa it really don't hurt much except in PvP you can't use as much food as other people to help you.
