the rifle you get as reward for some mission... is it still kinetic dmg?
cose I'm doubting between picking up tka instead of fencer (I hate to run away from spellweavers/protectors..), but I fear this will affect my tanking abilities, and with that my soloing abilities...
so 2 questions=
- tusken king rifle = kinetic dmg?
- fencer changing in tka = less tanking abilities?

The Tusken Rifle is Kinetic, but it has the same 'problem' as the Beam rifle- no certification for it exists. However, since this is an item for the Krayt skull quest and not an actual quest reward, the cert shouldn't exist. And without a certification, there is no way to use it to actually inflict any damage(even on durnis
)
You have Fencer and are thinking of switching it for TKA? I dunno what is better(probably Fencer right now for PvP), but TKAs are excellent tanks. Very high damage output, PowerBoost, Force of Will, Defensive Acuity, and other factors make them very tough. In PvE, I'd say you'll want TKA over Fencer for sure. Just my opinion though as I have no experience with Fencer.
EDIT: Tusken King rifle I meant to sayin that first part

well, I am focussing more on pve these days, but if I tank, I do it with a rifle, and use my passive fencer ablities (defenses) to help me...
will I notice a lot of difference when I switch those to tka (since these can actually inflict dmg in pve as well
)?
I first considered swordsman, but their defence is just too low to be of any help with my rifle (I think?)

As far as just passive defenses, TKA and Fencer are kinda similar I'd say, but Fencer would be slightly better with the status defense and all. Though the trade-off could well be worth the power TKA gives. Keep in mind the one(2 before too long) damage type of TKA. Swordsman is best in that department, but has pretty bad passive defenses I think. Toughness is where they are best I think...but with Swordsman/Rifleman, offense is good enough to count for defense some would say

well, the only reason I'm taking another melee prof is cose of those 100%resistant nightsisters...
but for the great solo capacities (elders and krayt), I will keep using rifle (duh)..
from everything I've read, I suppose tka is the best option? or should swordsman be better?

i've been fencer, tk and swords, and swordsman is that tank of tanks, hands down...master rifles only compliments the devastating mind shots by both professions

fencer and TKA have crap for damage types and armor piercing, swordsman is the only one with enough offense to kill those heavy armor NPCs, and they make decent tanks. they don't have insane fencer dodge or TKA med but they're the preferred melee tank for corvette, DWB, etc cos they can actually hurt things.

There is no certification for it. You are supposed to deliver it to Huff Darklighter in exchange for a Polished Krayt Skull to complete the quests for Borvo the Hutt. However, you may keep the rifle. The problem is that you will never be able to use it effectively. It does do Kinetic damage, but you won't be able to hurt anything with it
