Thread: Non-WeaponSwitching Rifleman, Defense Stacking

Like you all I'm a Master Rifleman, and I love using my rifle, and I don't want to use anything else but my rifle. But I need defense, especially the melee variety. I've read about how the COB and many of the other melee defensive abilities are only useful when using the weapon they were designed for. What I'm looking for a bit more information as to which other profession will help me pick up that extra bit of Melee Def, and perhaps even a bit more Ranged. Out of the 4 Elite Brawler professions (Fencer, Swordsmen, TKA, and Pikeman). Who provides the best static defenses, perhaps not who gets the best melee defense addon, but as everything goes such as vs. States, vs. Melee, vs. Defense, Dodge, Counterattack, whatever else may apply when using the Rifle. I know that going up the 3rd tier of pistols provides with a good defensive backing, but I would rather go with something that I do have the option of switching to in time of need. Whereas going up the single tier of pistols makes me fairly useless as far as using a pistol goes. I know this question has probably been asked a billion times here, but I'm asking it now, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

fencer is your best bet then, great defense, but bad offensive damage =/


opposite of rifleman ^_^

yep if you want to stick with just adding ranged and melle defence do the defence tree of fencer and tkm. You may want to consider grabbing any of the def vs trees also. You wouldnt benefit from dodge at all unless yo uequip a !h weapon though.

i'm currently master rifle, master TK, fencer 0440 and i'm capped on both melee and ranged def, + i have very high state defences. if you didnt want to use melee for very much fighting then i suggest MRM, TK4404, master Fencer for the most defences and benefits

Since the defense caps are at 125, maxing ranged and melee defense for both TKA and Fencer is a waist. With Master Rifleman, you only need to take one prof for capping the defenses.


Instead go for state defenses like Im doing. Im taking a combination of TKA, Fencer, and Pistols to max out my ranged / melee defenses as well as my defense vs states. When your def vs KD, Post change and dizzy, blind are at 90,100, or 120 each then you wont be KDed as much at all. People will be having trouble landing a state effect while you destroy their mind.


My old temp was TKM/Mast Doc, then switched to Master Rifle (love it), TKM. I love Rifles more now and absolutely own with them, so I dont use my fists anymore. I dont even need buffs to take people out. Instead, my new toon on the new server will be MRM and defense dabblers. Even if they have 4000+ Health or Action, their minds are usually around 600-900 only! That vs my power boosted 1600+ mind and I usually win.
