I was reading a BH whiner thread and the guy mentioned that there is a rifleman attack that can bring someone out of a feign deathed state? Is this possible?

I know Posture Up Attacks (FlushingShots) used to pop people out of Feign Death. Don't know if it still does.

actually if they are in feign deathI switch to my most wounding weapon and let fly on them... they may be unkillable but they also will be black bar when they stand again ... generally it is better to die then to do feign death for any length of time in pvp as you at least can get back into the fight without lenghty healing time if you die

if commando light em up! you won't kill em butthey can't dodge or anything in feign death so you will hit and burn their bar black!

I am both Master Rifleman and Master Smuggler. I don't PvP much, but I do follow the Smuggler boards closely. The Devs have said directly that doing what you suggest is considered Griefing and your account can be suspended for doing it.
However, they have also said that Feign Death was not intended for PvP. Unfortunately (for you) it is not griefing to use it. So FD is an advantage for the smuggler in combat. And even though I understand how it can piiss somebody off, it IS griefing to black bar the person or their armor.

Really? Ok won't do that any more but it is currently an impossible thing to do anything but that. Seems very unfair and unbalanceing... I started doing this after a smuggler Killed me cause i though he was dead but only feigning. Hopefully they allow our posture up attack (a reason for Startleshot!) to force them out of that posture again cause the current situation is untenable. (btw: is it not true that during feign death your armor does not take decay?)

Its been fixed. It used to work, but not any more.

[edit] Nope when FD your armor takes full damage, I switch to my DXR-6b and go nuts. Even the devs have said its griefing, so is about 10,000 other things that people do every day in this game. If you want to FD, thats fine with me, but do so at the expense of your armor and wound bar.

Also the only way FD is considered griefing is when you use it to hold someone in combat. This prevents them from doing stuff like getting on shuttles, or taking stuff outof crates. I was a former master smuggler, and I ran a FD macro all the time. I was afk one time and got attacked, I feigned...but the thing was I left to go get lunch...I had about 100 tells from the person screaming at me that he couldn't get on a shuttle. I duno if he reported me, because he DID get my afk "I'm going to get lunch I'll be back in an hour" message. I think that logging off and logging back in for them will fix it. So if a smuggler ever tries to lock you in combat, just relog and its fixed

It doesn't make sense to me. You can Feign and deny my kill. I can't make you pay for it. You're not supposed to be able to Feign and deny my kill, but it's ok. My making you pay for it is not.

FD should be switched so it works for PvP - all everyone sees is Corpse of So and So, you can just stand up when you want. That way it's really feigning.

Some various thoughts on this topic (again, I am both MRM and MSmuggler):

-- I'm not saying its fair that someone can just lie down in the middle of a battle.I wouldnt like it if it was pulled on me.

-- Even the black-barring of the HAM might be OK if it didnt damage the armor

-- But shooting someone's armor down to Zero is not fair either and should be considered "griefing".

That is a major expense to some people and justbecause you got robbed of a kill it isn't right to destroy theirarmor over it.

-- One thing to keep in mind is that many smugglers will NOT use FD in combat because they know they have totake their armor off first, and that takes a couple of seconds that would probably kill them anyway.

--I'm not sure how I would do it if I were a dev. Maybe no FD in a PvP situation.

-- I know that Feign Death has saved my butt in PvE numerous times, especially the Geo cave. Again, I don't PvP much and have never FD'ed in PvP.

I didn't realize it destroyed their armour as well. Now there's no reason to stop pummeling them when their ham bars are black. LOL

Do CM's poison and disease affect FD'ed folk? If they do affect them, theres a way to kill them . . . though it would be a 3 incap death

Well for the record, unless you're running a feigndeath macro, you can remove your armor in the same instance you FD. Armor is only delayed putting it on - not taking it off. Ergo, you can make a macro that does

/ui action toolBarPanexx
/ui action toolBarButtonXX
/ui action toolBarButtonXX
etc
/feign

That's what I would do personally.

Like I said, I think the Devs should just make FD make you look like a corpse. unattackable, and people can't tell if you're Feigning or actually Dead (well, maybe let people in your group see a State that says Faking or something). That's the ideal for everyone, and makes it useful in PvP.
