i think confused is the general consensus for the time being. i would say to everyone in the game: give it a couple of weeks. play a little, but read a book or something else productive in the meantime. the devs have some serious issues to correct, and it will take a while (just like it did way back when in june of 03 when this thing got off the ground).

if anyone important happens to read this: it might help if there was an instruction manual for all of the new changes. im a master doctor and master rifleman, and right now, i have absolutely no idea what the hell my character is capable of doing except arranging the stuff in my houses and running around. im sure theres a reason for all of this, id just love to know what it is.

Working as intended. Your accuracy, speed, and weapon specific defense with the carbine will be lower than with rifles but you will be able touse the CL-only certed carbines or pistols if you choose. You could also pick up a melee weapon that only has a CL cert and use it too.

The reason for weapons having CL certs now is so if you decide to switch profs at a later date you can pick up a new weapon and use it somewhat effectively until you level up. Under the old system your level depended on the weapon you were holding. The CU system doesn't have that. Your CL is independent of the weapon in your hand. It is totally dependent on skill boxes you have earned. Prior to changing the weapon certs in the CU it was essentially impossible to gain exp with a new prof if you didn't level it simultaneously with the one you had the most skill in.
