I was just wondering how many of you riflemen are also two handed swordsmen; I just wanted to get some responses to decide if it is viable or not.

That's the path I'm currently on. I''ll master Rifleman, max out 2 of the 4 trees in Swordsman and stop my Ranger progression at Novice (which I've already completed).

Me too, and therefore live and die by my ability to damage Mind.

I am as well. Almost at 2 Handed Specialist, I'll probably stop at specialist though.

This is an interesting alternative to what I'm going to try . If my method turns out to be a dud I'll switch to Swords .

But heres my plan .

Going to Master Marksman and Scout .

Going to pick up Minshot II ( already got it ) and Headshot III ( about an hour away ) from the Rifleman line .

Going to pick up Eye shot from the Bounty Hunter line .

Eye shot give you a MindPool damage attack , just like Headshot - only with a pistol . You can use any pistol . I have heard that the Eye shot with a good pistol like a FWG5 will hit for 500 - 800 damage . So , I'll use my Minshots I and II ( which stack b.t.w ) and a Headshot III to open , then I'll switch to my pistol and throw a glue trap ( roots them for a minute or so ) and let loose with the Eye Shots .

Sounds good , no ?

Guys - let me know if you have this information .... how much does the two handed sword Mind Pool attack hit for with a decent sword ? We'll compare these two methods and see which one is best . I'm thinking I will have my template complete in another week or so of steady playing . I've already got the Rifleman reqs which I think are the hardest to get . Pistol XP is the easiest , so don't see much in my way at this point .

Will keep ya all posted

I'm actually going with TKA rather than 2H Sword. This means that I wont be completely screwed on mobs that are extra tough vs. mind pool attacks.

i use a 2handed cleaver (58-174 damage)with 2hs Headhit1, i get around 650 on mind +/- some. Not to shabby when things get personal.

I'm doing the two-handed thing too. The bounty hunter eyeshot option sounds a little better to me than picking up brawler for just the one skill tree, but I'm also a medic so i don't have enough skill points for all that. I love having the melee option, I think kiting is pretty wussy and switching to melee effectively turns all your weaknesses as a rifleman into strengths. Cleavers also look really badass, and I'm hoping Scythes will too as soon as anyone figures out how to make one of the **edit** things

Yep, that's me. I use a 2H sword ( which I must say, looks quite bad-ass in a samurai katana kind of way ) for unavoidable close encounters.

I start with a mindshot from 58m out while prone, switch to headshot2 ( I can usually get between 1-2 more shots in after the mindshot using my laser rifle).By now the creature or NPC should have spotted me and hell is on it's way. I jump up and whip-out the sword and start carving it up with 2H headshot strikes; if I'm fighting a creature, I'll even chuck a bone-spur trap at it as it rushes in for additional mind damage.

its not quite the dream combo u might've tought...

works well for 5k hp enemies i guess (with rifle u can kill 3k hp enemies from afar most of the time..)

but with 9k hp... u'll probly take 3k with rifle (and another 1 with the bleed)

and u'd have to do the rest with sword... and it'll definitely leave you death/half dead...

most katana(best 2h sword) has an action ham cost of 60+ .. mine is 67. that means that with 2hHeadhit2, i deal 140 damge to myself constantly.. and i hit pretty fast...

sure the damage to the enemy is around 800-1300.. (good for pvp)

but thats way too risky... and our melee defense (as a swordsman) isn't good either..

armor? that means that ur cost of headshot just got increased by 50%.. no thanks, sir..

anyway, ever since i got my katana, i've mostly been doing auto-attack.. followed by sweeps every now and then.. and i've dropped my rifle altogether.. unless in pvp (always fun when ppl run far far away before dueling me when i'm carrying a sword... and see their surprised face as i go prone-rifle-headshot2 =D

auto-attack = very nice damage.. especially with berserk.. can outdamage TKA i believe, but that also means that u're not doing mind damge =(...

just my 2cents.
