Thread: The group aggro bug makes cover and concealed shot useless
First of all I know this is a bug which effects everyone but mainly rifleman. At the very heart of our profession is the ability to strike from the shadows without being noticed, it's the sole reason that we have a number of skills which require us to not move and suffer x3 damage when we are caught. This bug has been around since day one but we all know how annoying it is. I'm talking about the way in which you attack a member of a group using conceal shot or when using maskscent/camoflage to avoid being detected. But while the target has no idea what is attacking them you find that everything else in the group instantly notices you and opens fire.
Naturally this nullifies the need for any kind of concealment tactics and attacually effects both rifleman and anyone who has maskscent/camoflage. It is also a drastic enough bug as to totally effect how people play the game, if they see a group of targetsthey could take on induvidually but not as a whole then currently you simply avoid attacking them. If they fixed the bug you'd see people quite happily picking off the members of the group one by one from the shadows. This is what riflemen are SUPPOSED to excell at, all this talk about us not being powerful enough wouldn't matter if we could use the skills that are supposed to allow us to avoid aggro in the first place.
So please.... fix the group aggro bug when a player is supposed to be hidden from detection.
I agree that this is very annoying, and none of the target's buddies ought to know where you are until your target knows, or is killed (but they won't charge you unless you attack another one).
I think I posted a little while ago about how I can sometimes "exploit" this behavior. If there are merely 2 enemies (or if you are capable of handling 2 up close), you can target the furthest one away from you, making sure it is out of range. Hit the Aim attack, and all of his buddies will charge you. Because you are out of range, you won't accidentally shoot at the original target, so you can peace at your leisure. Then you kite the enemy that attacks you.
Of course....it has to be a target that you can kite. Once you have that one dispatched, you can go back and "snipe" the remaining target.
There are more variations I use sometimes, depending on how large the group is and how spread out they are. (if they are really spread out, target the closest one, and you have a chance of only agroing one enemy, since it is a radius effect)
If we call it an exploit, maybe they will change it, so everyone jump on the bandwagon!
