As the dev's fumble to balance out all the classes against eachother, what do you think this class's role should be?

Riflemans role are area attacks believe it or not... We may have a sniper title but thats a joke, we are machine gunners.

Currently with commandos doin insane damage cause their guns count as hand to hand on me i've been fillin my role as the goon holding the rifle very well. Stand around like a big dope with my nerfed T21 "casue we dont want it owning the battlefield with one shot kills" While commandos get upgraded to one shot killers. Nice move devs!!!!

yeah, it seems rifleman got gipped out of all the weapon specs. pisses me off really. 2.5 dmg while holding a rifle? that's a joke. I wanna see a dev hold a rifle while I poke him with a toothpick--then he can drop the rifle and see if hurts any less... rifleman should have machine guns (like saws) as well as sniper rifle options--rifles are the main sidearm of any fighting force and not carbines. period. the fact that we don't get one-shot kills is kinda silly--when compared to the ferocity of commando weapons. frankly, if they're going to give us sniper weapons, they should make rifles have it's own increased range beyond 65 m. otherwise, it's just silly.

did i mention that i hate, hate, hate having to swtich to a pistol. irl, you don't pull out a friggin pistol to fight when the enemy runs up close to you: you use the pistol as a last resort weapon when you're **edit** outta luck.

Rifles were and are the primary weapon of infantry. You don't see lines of infantry running in to combat pistols a blazing now do you? They do call pistols a side arm for a reason. So, I don't think the machine gunner gimmick is out of place.

There really was no Sniper Programs available until 25 or so years ago. There were and are always sharpshooters amongst infantrymen and women who did fill sniper like roles. Not to say there weren't snipers, they were just considered dishonorable fighters until after Viet Nam. Shoot people in the back? From 1000 yards away, that's just not SPORTING LIKE! Bah, stupid.. But I digress

So anyway, getting back to the point of the thread: My opinion is that Riflemen are ranged fire support providing damage and cover for front line combat classes. So in this twisted SWG world, my highly agile pistol fighters and melee classes are up front distracting and damaging the enemy, the Carbineer is supporting them by managing the crowd with AOE knockdowns & state effects, we are at distance - prone - using area covering volleys of highly damaging fire and finishing off threats with high power single shots.

Now our Commando friends are sneaking in close behind them, destroying structures, vehicles and large groups of enemies with grenades, flamethrowers and other assorted carnage generators while our Bounty Hunter finds their leader and smokes him in 1 on 1 combat thus leaving the enemy in leaderless disarray.

Now, I have neverSEEN as well rounded group attacklike what is discussed above, but thats the way I would figure it to run

Riflemen rock in group pvp. With your groups cover you can either use the almighty strafeshot2 or if needed you can pick a buffed target with headshots (no mind buffs hehe). At standoffs with 2 groups wearing down each other the ranged db also helps a ton. With the Jawa ion you cut through composite like a hot knife through butter.

Solo they are plain junk. But I can live with that.

Problem is, at pve, you're mostly a soloer. At pvp, you're a group player. If you get through that you're somewhat fine.
