Hi i just started to use rifles as a part of my tusken combo. Taking fencer and rifles and using only gaffis and tusken rifles. Ive gotten a little into the rifle line and im starting to realize that using the tusken rifle wont work for too long. Id just like some suggestions on what weapons to use till what lvl, where to hunt with buffs and armor, and what rifleman trees to master first. thanks for all your help

Nisru, by all accounts, i am still a "newb" to SWG, but I have mastered Rifleman and Marksman, so hopefully I can be of some help to you.

If you are already at Novice Rifleman, I highly reccomend that you purchase a speed-sliced T21. You won't have the luxury of rapid fire and high accuracyduring low-level Rifleman, so use a speed slice to compensate. If you are still in the marksman tree, use a Laser Rifle as your primary weapon, preferably speed sliced, but if you prefer the damage-slice instead, that is your choice.

Hunting:

If Marksman: Hunt at Fort Tusken until you hit Novice Rifleman. I hunted around Mos Eisley until Rifles III, then I went to Tusken to hunt until I hit Novice Rifleman. Another nice option is you find a non-solo (hard to find, but they exist) hunting group, and run Mountain Squill missions on Tatooine. Dewbacks and Banthas are nice too, but Squills will be the best game in terms of cash and XP. If you do this, make sure you have someone who can tank for you.

If Rifleman: You can continue to hunt at Tusken if you wish, but you'd probably be better off going to Dantooine to run some Quenker missions. You'll get money andXP this way. Be sure to buff up with a doc before you go, though. Or if you prefer, you can always get buffed and try to solo the Mountain squills on Tat. I chose to hunt on Dantooine though, and found it be a very good place to advance the profession. Between Quenkers, Huurtons, Pikets, and eventually the Tribal people, you will find a wide variety of game to hunt. I'd leave the Tribal people alone until you're at least half-way done with Rifleman, as they can put up a fight.

Rifleman tree:

I opted to go with the first box of Concealment using my first batch of Rifle XP. This gives you Concealshot which allows you to plug your opponent for a few shots before being noticed. If you're using a pet or droid, you can probably skip this box for now though, as you will have theirsupport. The Sniping box is probably your most important category from here on out, as it influences your accuracy and gives you your Mind-pool targeting specials. I reccomend bringing Sniping upto level 4 before anything else. Also, level up Rifle Ablities whenever you can, because this will allow you to shoot faster. A side note: Counter-Sniper 2 certifies you for the DXR-6b, which is a great acid-based rifle, so keep that in mind as well.

Specials:

Make sure to juice up on Brandy, Canape, and/or Arisha, as Rifleman specials wreak havoc on the Mind..both yours and your opponent's. HeadShot2-3, and MindShot2 will be good friends of yours. So long as your mind is buffed, do not be afraid touse them, as thesespecialsdefine theRifleman class. Flushingshot2 is also great, because it has a good damage multiplier, and it delivers Area Effect. Remember, the Rifleman isdesigned to shatter theMind pool of the enemy, so, use your specials accordingly. I stuckwith these specials throughout the leveling process and did fine. Perhaps other people will tell you to useother specials, but these worked well for me.

Tactics:

Always engage your target from 50-64 meters, and always do it from the prone firing position. Switch to kneeling or standing once your target begins to close on you. The first couple shots fired from the prone position at ideal range will have a great accuracy bonus; in other words, make the first volley count, because once the enemy closes on you, the accuracy goes out the window (completely idiotic in terms of real life, but it's a balance issue for the game...or so they say ) When the enemy does get in your face, make liberal use ofyour Point Blank specials. Both theSnigle and the Group work prettywell in CQB. If you have the Scout profession, make sure to use MaskScent whenever you can, as this will aid in your efforts to remain concealed and at a distance. Scoutis a nice complement to Rifleman.

Weaponry:

A key advantage to being a Rifleman is that you get to use Energy, Stun, Heat, Cold, and Acid weapons (pardon me if I forgot anything). For your primary weapon, I would go with the Energy-based T21. A damage-sliced T21 will belt out some nice damage, and is usually affordable when compared to some other guns. Also, theT21, isto my knowledge, the only weapon in the game with an Armor Piercing rating of 3, so don'tneglect this fact. Make sure to pick up a nice Jawa Ion Rifle to deal out stun damage. The DXR-6b Disruptor is an absolute necessity as well. The gun has a fairly rapid re-fire time, decent damage, and it does Acid damage; it's a great all around gun. Now some Riflemen will swear by the Laser Rifle, and while they make their points, the T21 is a better weapon, IMHO. But,you must decidewhichyou prefer. Also, don't forget about the Spraystick. The Spraystick may look goofy, but it fires very, very fast, and makes for an excellent "grinding" weapon. Once you've mastered Rifleman, I doubt you'll ever use a Spraystick again, but, it can be useful to you at lower levels.

Well, I hope this helps. Rifleman is a lot of fun at Master, and I wish you luck with it. Enjoy the profession, as from what I understand, we are one of the few professions that is relatively "nerf-free". I hope this advice helps, and just remember, this is only advice from my experience with the profession, so don't take what I sayas gospel; this is simply the way I did things.

Cool, be a Tusken! There used to be a PA called the Jundlanders, they'd go around acting like Tuskens. Maybe that website will help you on your quest.
