I'm looking to buy one and I'd like to know what a good speciment would be?

Looking for Damage, Speed and Ham penalties.

I think around 350 max damage is decent (min is like 10-20, not too significant). Speed, maybe 6.5ish? Not sure about HAM penalties, but I think mine might be around 40-60.

Laser rifle is a great gun, but the damage range is really wide. Mine is like 17-297 damage, those low damage hits really mess up your day when they happen.

I just bought a new one recently and had itsliced (damage) to 30-350. It's virgin speed is 5.4 or something like that. I've seen some sliced to 370, if I remember right.

I haven't used powerups before (well, just the crappy ones I can craft myself) but I understand you can get another 30% on the damage with a good power-up. I think I'll go looking for some tonight...

If your server has T21's and you have the Cert for them (and the $$) they start (unsliced) about the same max damage as Laser Rifles, but their minimum is 120+ instead of 20+. Unfortunately, their speed is in the 9+ range (unsliced). You can get real nervous hoping a creature doesn't zero in on you for 9 seconds!!

My laser is 23-503 sliced and powered up the range is quite silly sometimes I'll hit for 3800 with headshot 3 and people will be like wow! then I'll hit for 80 with it and people will be confused ^_^

Powerups make the laser rifle a good gun imo. Before I stuck a 30% damage powerup on my laser I wasn't very impressed with it at all, in fact I went back to using my DLT. That changed once I stuck a 30% damage on it, I seem to hit for sub 200 a lot less and often get 1500 in the combat window using hs2.
