Thread: The reasoning behind the 3x melee damage modifier?
Today I wanted to figure out the reasoning behind the rifleman taking so much damage in melee? I was guessing they wanted us to stink in close combat and, with our complete lack of accuracy, we already do lose in close combat fighting.
No, the reason I started this thread was to figure out why I got owned completely by a paralope yesterday.
Im a novice rifleman and the paralope does get to hit me 5 times before I finally get in a hit.
I can deal with doing less DPS, the pistol accuracy from long range does get me at times, but the worse aspect ofmy rifleman's life is that melee damage multiplier.
This thread exists not as a rant but rather as an observation: We already miss a majority of the time at point blank range so why would riflemen need a melee negative damage multiplier to make close combat useless and always a loss?
