Thread: Finally seeing the potential of rifleman

Recently, I got flushing shot 2. Wow. I had registered a few 3000+ hits with my powered up t-21 using flurry shot 1, but now I can consistantly hit for 2000 with flushing andhit for3400+ fairly often. And the fact that flushing shot 2 hits multiple targets is even better. Man, I really can't wait for master rifleman now.

Questions:

1) Is flurryshot2 something to look foward to if I already have flushingshot2?

2) Is it even practical to try getting knock-downs using flurry followed by startle shot? This has worked for me in the past, but it usually only works about 1/4 of the time. (Sometimes the target is on the brink of death when it finally happens, so maybe I can answer my own question about this.)

3) As a 2-0-3-2 rifleman (already qualified to be 2-1-3-2 if I decided to move up the concealment 1 path), should I go ahead and get conceal or move or keep going up the accuracy or counter-sniping branches? I've heard mixed reports on conceal, and it seems to me that if I find a lone enemy then I really don't need to worry about hiding from him since I could have him dead or half way dead in the shots before he starts chasing me, but then again...I'm not sure? Is conceal handy or what? I think I would enjoy the additional crawl speed more than anything for the few times the enemy or I aren't warping around.

For rifleman just starting out:

I just recently got creature handling, so it IS NOT necessary to have a creature to move up in rifleman. Although, it does make it easier since most animals are social now days. Before the big patch that made a lot more animals social, I spent my days in the corellian swamps killing humbabas for about 1.8k xp. This may not sound like an outragious amount, but for how slow and stupid they are, this was a great place to grind rifleman. But now they're social. You might as well be trying to kill the always social savaga humbabas now.

Go to Talus. There you will find Torturs are social, one might think they're out of the question, but typically they hang out in packs of three (a meager tortur, a tortur, and a bull tortur). Anyway, they're pretty slow so if you slap a bleed on the bull and run away you can finish him off easily when you get back. Plus, another bull will respawn by the time you do this...so....theres 2k+ xp and a great harvesting xp right there.

Finally, for you imperial rifleman out there, never underestimate imperial missions. If you have enough faction for a storm trooper you can group and find easy 2k+ xp npcs in your missions. Just be sure to sick the storm trooper on potential brawlers so you don't get melee killed and instantly slayed. For a while, I couldn't find many animals that I liked to hunt for solo rifle xp, so a lot of my grinding has been done on imperial missions while getting faction. Oh, and with that faction I've been buying storm trooper armor which I believe is a big help (of course, no helmate).

Hope these tips help and I hope my questions are answered.

I'll try and answer your questions.

1. If you are strictly PvE you will be dissapointed with Flurry2 as the damage multiplier is smaller than Flushingshot2. I my self have never used it. Not in PvE nor PvP. Tough the speed from the same box is nice

2. I never use knockdown moves my self as the 2 shots to actually do the knockdown could instead have killed him if I just believe in it. So I'd say its not worth the trouble.

3. If you use a pet you don't want conceal shot before you only got that brance as the last one needing to be grinded. I would go Sniping IV right after Counter-Sniping III. With a pet you don't need to be hiding. Just send you pet in and wait till all the creatures have hit your pet once. Then start spamming Flushing2.. you'll see the xp floating in.

Gl with it mate.

the problem with flurry2 in PVP is its more effecient to use strafe2 in its place. It would be a different situation if flurry2 did something useful like an instant knockdown.

mobs will only get knockdowned after being dizzied if they change their own posture. You cant dizzy them and then have them get knocked down after u supression fire them or startle shot them, they wont even fall down if they get up/get down from their forced posture change.

However if they change their own posture, then they get knocked down

"they wont even fall down if they get up/get down from their forced posture change."

Are you shure about that? I used to make stormies dizzy, then kneel with /suppressionshot, and they usually fell when they got back up. Dev might have changed it, though.

Dizzy doesn't seem to last long on NPCs, including stormies. In fact, it usually goes away before my next shot, or at about that time.

Was fighting nightsister rangers this morning and it works. Flurry then I use supression, she tried to stand up and ended up on her back. Problem is most of my supressions fail to change her posture only a few actually made her kneel.

HARPOON is correct, NPCs will only fall when dizzy if *they* change their posture, not if they are forced. So, there are basically 2 situations: if you are fighting groups of ranged NPCs, a flurry2 can save you from a lot of damage as the AI tends to posture change on its own pretty regularly; melee NPCs on the other hand never change posture on their own, but you can force them to make one by getting a successful supression hit on them.

IMHO, unless you're soloing without any pets, Conceal path will be the last path you go for it.

Counter-Snipe path is good for PvE while Sniper path is more toward PvP.
