Thread: Today's Rumor: 2.5x penalty going away

Could be a hoax or a joke.

Or it could be real.

I am suspicious because of the statement that "You will just be easier to hit." That flies in the face of all the boosts to MeleeD and RangedD that's being put in the upcoming publish.

Still, I figured I'd pass it along.

I hope they reduce HAM costs as well, I'm going to feel like a total gimp after using my whole HAM bar trying to kill 1 pistoleer with damage mitigation 3.

Removing the 2.5x penalty won't have the slightest difference to riflemen in the end. All it'd do is prolong your death.

You'd still be missing all your shots on whoever it is that's pounding your a** next to you and it will still kill you. It'd just take a little longer.

Sure, it'd remove the insta-deaths from anything big or powerful that teleports on you, but if they fixed the teleporting, you wouldn't have to worry about that.

If you are worried about things that are getting close you can always whip out that rusty spraystick (gets bonuses to close range) and fire off some warning\threaten shots....perhaps even a suppression shot to get some distance between you two.....or you could pick up a close combat skill (pistols or a melee profession).


So with the 2.5x penalty going away....you are not in such a horrible situation...the time it buys gives you a chance to whip out the spraystick or sword or pistol and get at it without taking 2.5x the damage.

This totally breaks us in PvP, or do I miss something here?

So assume the pistoleer and the rifleman both have level 1 damage mitigation. This gives 80% damage reduction either before or after the standard 75% reduction in PvP, right?

So assuming 1000 damage per shot, around 60 get through (not even counting AR and resistances). To shoot a rifle with HS2, we use up around 60 mind...

The fights will last way longer, and everyone will do as much damage to himself as he does to his target. So, all weapon classes but rifles can heal that damage. We can't.

Can anyone explain to me how we are supposed to kill anyone in PvP with this?

It will never happen so don't worry, nobody wants to get the 2.5x removed we just want it on hiatus until those damnable meatlumps stop warping on me from 80m away with 4 of his melee buddies. But as I said the devs have done wackier things...anyone else want to see skills and bugs get fixed before they start tampering with basic game rules pertaining to combat or balance?

No 2.5x penalty meansthey'll nerf us to doing only1/2.5x current damage.
