Thread: Why would I use startle shot I instead of flushing shot?

Been trying to find an answer to this. As far asI can tell, startle shot 1 and flushing shot are equal, except that startle shot 1 doesn't have flushing shot's stun effect. That would be fine except that startle shot 1 is higher on the tree than flushing shot 1. Does anyone know what the deal is here?

You wouldn't unless you had some sort of fetish for using moves that are called startle or didn't know any better.

Flushing shot is exactly the same except it does stun as well. For this reason I consider startleshot 1 and 2 to be broken, unless someone can inform me why anyone would want to use startleshot instead of flushingshot.

MAYBE you get a better chance to posture the target with startle. but im not sure.

Could be, I havn't seen anyone do a test on the % chance to move someones posture UP.

I don't know it just seems a bit of a worthless skill to me, having very littleuse in PvE or PvP.

Heh actually nobody uses posture UP in pvp anyway. Unless you want the BH guy to start flying too.

Does anyone know if the HAM costs are different? If startle I was cheaper to use than flushing I, then it would make it a reasonable increased-damage special with a purpose.

Flushing Shot1 ..... Damage x2.0 .. Time x2.1 .. Mind x5

Startle Shot1 ...... Damage x2.0 .. Time x2.1 .. Mind x5

Flushing Shot2 ..... Damage x4.0 .. Time x2.6 .. Mind x6

Startle Shot2 ...... Damage x4.0 .. Time x2.6 .. Mind x6

From what I can tell these numbers are correct, so.....

Attacking a group of nightsisters last night, and 3 of them all decided to lay on the ground andshoot me with their rifle's, would have been fun to dizzy them and then make em try and stand up

Good idea Weponxx. You'll notice the Flushing and Startle shots are in the 'Counter-Sniping' tree. This should tell you when they are most appropriate.

I like Flushing 1 and 2 as general purpose attacks from time to time, but they would be ideal for messing up that enemy sniper who is most likely prone as you should be. No comment on the broken Startle shots as I never use them.

I do this all the time when I'm in a group (read: can afford to fail). First I get a dizzy, then I try and suppress. if that takes I use flushing. All 3 of those have good damage and help hit HAM where the rest are hitting. 1 time out of 10 I get a KD effect and the fight is OVER. I have not used startle much (I just got that).
