Thread: Who was that masked man?
sounds like non-descript force-user to me.
ever done the jedi missions on dant? the dark jedi by the waterfall?
tough sob's. somewhere around 10k ham and 80% resists to everything. (i think everything). pop a muon gold, tank it with something huge (more than one something works better) and go to town with headshot3 or strafe2.
i've seen them slaughter grauls and rancor's with relativeease. thankfully, if you're master rifle/master marksman and at least one other pet besides the graul/rancor, you can take'em down before they move on. they hit hard though!
some seem to be susceptible to flurry+supression KD. worked on a Nightsister stalker once, she was down for a good 20 seconds. inconsistant though
Two nights ago I was coming back from a couple of Piket missions on Dantooine heading for the Mining outpost. I was swimming across that lake that is very close to it with the island that has the ruins (columns) on it(I can't remember what direction it is, but it's only a few hundred meters from the outpost). I was approaching the island with the ruins (swimming) and had decided I needed to log out for some reason. So I thought to myself, "I should be safe on the island, I'll swim over to it, pitch camp, and log out".
So as I approach the island a red dot appears on my overlay map on the edge of the island. I stop and float and use TAB to target the object. It is some guy in a dark hooded robe with very pale skin. So I hover my mouse over his HAM bars and, if i remember right, he's around 8-9K on all of them. I figure I can take him, especially since he isn't wearing any armor (I forgot to look to see if he had any resists). Well, the lake is shallow, so I find a spot where I actually can stand in the water about 54m from him. I equip my trusty T21 and fire a strafe shot2.
About 1 second later I'm incapped floating in the shallow water. A second red dot has appeared close tomy original target (I'm not sure exactly when and where it came from) and this second dot starts swimming for me. Well I guess we all know how this ended up. But I did get back to the mining outpost faster. I looked in the combat window and I had been hit with a 1700 shot right after my shot did 2200.
Anyone have any idea who this masked man was??? He wasnt a Kunga for sure. And he hit me from 54m.
I fought something like that in the very same spot. (My story is slightly different..)
It was just a named npc... not () in the name either...
Smashed me in one shot for like 2500.... nasty.. luckly my mauler came to my aid... i got up, and fought. Mauler went down, so did my GW... i out ran it... came back, healed everyone up, my bleeds were taking it's toal by now.. and after a secound round i killed it... (Mauler took a heck of a beating even with the thing 3/4's dead... and they say CH's are godly... right . 
) Got jack squat on the corps... LoL. And strangly, it didn't DB my pets either... odd.
Hardest fight I've had to date... Mine had Mid armor, if i recall correctly.. and 13k ham...
But it was right where your discribing... LoL.

Thanks... in a weird way that makes me feel better. As far as the target's HAM, as I was typing the original story, I was thinking to myself... "Was it 8-9K or 13-14K?"... so you may be right on the money with the HAM values. At least you didn't have a second figure spawn! I can't remember the target's name, but I THINK it was two short names (like 6 characters each) without anything else.
Yep. the risists were massive... 75 or so to all. Hmm. Intresting. What really struck me as odd was, it was just named... no (untraind dark side user) no title at all... that's what threw me. It was like a PC on freaking stairorids. LoL. I'm still picking that guys/gals (pretty sure it was a female... lol)booth out of my behind, but, honestly, it was the funniest fight i've had in a LONG time. It's not often I get spanked with Baka and Crimson in tow... I'll have to head back there and check that place out again... Oh and another DID spawn... just to far away to draw argo... and i didn't feel like getting creamed again. LoL. We got throught that fight by the skin of our teeth, without a DB or vite... didn't want to tempt fait twice.

still, it's better than the (not a special, mind you):
Iforgot'isname (a Dark Jedi Master) hits you for 6256 damage.
my only advice: AVOID STRUCTURES. structures trigger spawns, and usually LATE spawns. oh, and bleeds ignore armor and resists... if you can stay alive long enough for them to work.
I wonder if this would work...
Since they are on the island, if you could find a shallow spot in the lake approx 64m from the target, then Bleed him and run/swim like hell. I assume they cannot fight while swimming? seems like you could swim in circles or something till they die. May have to go back there myself...
Which brings up another question... If I am STANDING in waist-deep water (or whatever the deepest water is that you can stand it), can I go prone? I assume that if I can stand, I can go prone.

All MOB's (creature and NPC's)can attack while swimming. Only players can not.
