Thread: Troubles with bounty hunters
Everywhere i go i see bounty hunters, everywhere i try to pvp there is at least 1. I just got master rifleman and i thought i would have a good advantage over a **edit** bounty hunter at 64 meters but boy was i **edit**ing wrong.
I get eye shot killed in a matter of seconds and the most damage i do is half their mind pool with head shot II, at 64 meters i die in 3 seconds, they hit u with eye shot, u cant see clearly, then its all over.
I cant wear a helmet because it drains my mind 3 times as fast when i use special abilities so it negates the bonus resists i get. ANYONE here got some tips?
Copy n Paste from another post.
As for fighting eyeshot I've tried all of the following and had some success with most of them.
1.) Unless they are charging in for the LLC kill don't run around alot, with the blind you'll missa lotwhich only helps the BH. (May change when the TC changes come into play.)
2.) Get a good composite helmet, try to find at least 50% resist to acid.
3.) Try andmigrate your mind to1000 or higher.
4.) This one is for when they fix buffs;Try to getyour focus above 1200 after armour penalties, with focus this highyou can use a laser rifle with a very low mind cost.
5.) If they are wearing a composite helmet you might want to try a Jawa Ion Rifle, it does stun damage which will go right through a lot of composite.
6.) If they are wearing no body armour and have low health (600-800) a DLT20a + strafeshot2 might be your best bet.
7.) If you know you're going to die, try and stick a mind bleed on them. ![]()
There is no way to always beat an eyeshot BH, if they're smart they will get you quite often, but I guess that was the idea behind eyeshot.
When it comes to Bounty Hunters and Eyeshotyou have to keep one thing in mind - Say it with me.....
I WILL remember to break the line of sight...... I WILL remember to break the line of sight....... I WILL remember to break the line of sight...... getting the idea?
Knowing how game mechanics work is MUCH more important then any skill tree you will ever master.
Get yourself a damage sliced T21, then slap a 30% max- 15%min damage powerup on that thing. Also, carry a highend Jawa Ion rifle ( yeah, you heard me ) that's been sliced for damage and slap a powerup on that too;the stun willcut through Advanced Compositelike a hot knife through butter. Do the same for a Laser.
Next, why are you using Headshot2 in PvP? Unless he was already low on mind from a previous head hit and you just want to finish him off, forget that foolishness.....your new best friend will be Strafeshot2; also importantFlushingshot2 ( slap a stun on him to slow him down and lower his damage output ) and Flurryshot2 ( make him dizzy, whenhe's forced to change posture he'll hit the ground and won't be getting up ).
Rifleman are not meant to go storming head-first into oppossing battle lines.Pick a good spot, preferably next to a building corner, a wall opening, a doorway, what have you; in fact, know your combat turf, odds are your going to need several spots throughout the battle. After you hit the first 2 shots ( Master speed ), be prepared to move to the next spot quickly, especially if the enemy is coming toward you. DON'T JUST STAND THERE. I can't stress that enough. Find placeswhere you can Break the line of Sight, should the enemy troops choose to concentrate fire in your direction. Ifa Bounty Hunter gives chase, prepare a nice /flurry2, /suppression + Spraystick macro to welcome him. Be prepared to burstrun ( NOT INTO THE OPEN ), around a corner, hosing him down with the combo I just mentioned all the while. If you can get sufficient distance, hit that Strafeshot2 again with the T21 oran equally decent laser.
Wait until your target engages your ally troops; in my experience, Bountys and Commandos tend to go for those standing closest to them, because that's where their specials work best, they'll see you as a secondary target, especially if you stay at the 50m-65m range. The best part about our most powerfull attacks is that they're all AoE. I can severly damage 3 seperate targets that make the unfortunate choice to stand too close together at once. This is really excellent when using Flushing2 also - 3 stuns for the price of one
Know who your enemy is, andwhere he enemy is; DON'T GET FLANKED. I find that in almost every fight I get DB in, I got flanked by an enemy that popped up behind me, or right next to me before I noticed. Due to the changes in TEF, there is no longer a single one-on-one "revenge" TEF; there IS a group TEF. Meaning, if the enemy is grouped, and you hit one of his squad, those 5 other blue dots on you radar now suddenly switch to red.
There are quite a few tactics to take into consideration when fighting, and I'm only offering the one's that work for me in PvP.
The main thing I'm trying tomake obviousis this - make them fight the battle on YOUR terms, not their's. Do that, and they'll wake up in the cloning center wonder " **edit** , what just hit me?!?" ![]()
you'll be having trouble with BHs
BS and machoism aside, BHs are a far better class than riflemen. People here can give you suggestions like break line of sight, run around buildings, use different weapons, wear a helmet (oh yeah, and that will kill your secondary mind stats so you'll be draining large amounts of mind from specials which helps the BH eye shot you to death), use buffs and spices, etc... but BHs need none of this to own a rifleman.
Harpoon hit the nail on the head.
with server side ghosting its extremely difficult to use terrain to ur advantage unless u have a ping of 100 or less, which i dont, I havea ping of 300 with broadband and get nailed even tho i just burst run out of range, or ran behinda wall or in a building. Secondly for some reason BHs always manage to hit me out of my max range, it could be server ghosting (they are 10 meters closer to me but it doesnt show till a second later when its too late) and I usually get incapped by the time my first special hits them (my strafe shot II hasyet to own someone in1 hit). Maybe i could go for high damage weapon powerups but the problem still remains, they are more effective at long range than me, and have a higher success rate of hittingand alsowith a +blind bonus+.
Maybe there are some tricks that are beyond obvious to get around these problems, if so please be informant and speak up, rather than blurt out "wear a helmet" before u realise ur not in the commando forum, where u can1 shotsomeone without using special abilities, unlike us riflemen which have afocus/will power dependancy to do any damage of significance and not lose half our mind pool.
Frankly im leading to believing that there is absolutely NOTHING a rifleman can do 1v1 against anequally pvp equipped Bounty Hunter who just spams eye shotin a laggy MMORPG atmosphere. Because once the first shot lands, ur accuracy is turned to **edit** and u cant do anything.
I hear this should be better when riflemen get better defense bonus and better accuracy so they are the true masters of longe range combat, instead of an eye shot spamming pistoleer BH dabbler.
