Thread: Can I solo rancors?

ATM I'm master ranger/rifleman. I only need buffs and brandy to kill mokks/jantas in like 3 min minus the time it takes to destroy the base. Last time I fought a rancorI was novice rifleman and got pwn3d with that disease. I don't really wear armor except ubese when I really have to because mind doesnt regen fast enough even with musician buffs. Should I invest extra time to get musician and dance buffs just to solo these guys fast?

Master Rifles? If yes, then they shouldn't be a problem. Use your Ubese armor and whatever buffs/foods you need to get your focus 1400 or higher. Make sure you have Doc buffs too (stating the obvious).

Stay away from the "Enraged Bull Rancors" As far as I know they are eh only ones that Disease.

The enraged bull rancors will dizzy/knockdown you. You die pretty fast when your laying on your back and they are stepping on you

Yep, guy above is correct, Rancor Youth, Rancors, and Mutant Rancors should all be easy enough for you. Open up on the lair with your ubese on from 60m and let them die in the cone as they rush you. If they get through, tab through them and drop them individually. Your armor will keep you alive long enough to survive.
For Bull Rancors you may need to be more careful, either pulling 1 at a time away from the rest or using conceal shot to wear them down before you open up with an area attack.

Master Rifleman can take anything bro. Just keep a good distance with a pup T21 and spam conceal shot. If they do see you just finish them off by kiting or pointblank. At master im pretty sure they wont see you with conceal shot, there ham isnt that high so it will be easy.

So running around doing strafeshot2 with no armor and just standard buffs/brandy isn't a good idea?

Yeah the guy 2 posts up has the right idea about being a master. It's true you can just concealshot stuff. But it's more fun to be unbuffed/unarmored with nothing more then a bottle of brandy and see if you can SS2 them all before they kill you. Just be careful if you are forced to kite like this. Dathamair isn't a kiter friendly planet.

The main problem with rancors is they have a huge agro range, so you might sometimes get detected before you can get into conceal shot range.
If you want to use the ever-popular and almost ridiculous full composite/ubese armor with full doc buffs, you can just pull them all and FS2 or SS2 them, armor will take quite a beating though.
My favorite hunting method isto go unbuffed except for artisan foods and brandy with a few pieces of encumbrance sliced ubese, then use bleed shot to pull them solo, then use suppression fire and headshot 2 to take them down. Warning shot also is good for slowing them down or making them run away. They take a long time to get running up to full speed, but are super fast once they get there.
I believe they use a combo of dizzy and posture change on you, so you run the risk of getting knocked down if you're not careful.

You're a ranger like me. Remember your ranger tools. If I were you, I would make some wire mesh, and some conceal packs for Dathomir. Conceal yourself, mask scent, and keep those traps handy in your inventory. Go up to them, make sure everything is hidden and conceal shot one at a time. The conceal packs are very hard to break, even with rancors. You shouldn't even be seen if all goes well. There is still debate if the maskscent/conceal stack with the conceal shot given with rifleman. Just remember, if they see you, they will come charging. Throw a wire trap to slow him down, or adhesive mesh. Hop on the bike and run or finish him off if you can do it within the 10-20 seconds that trap will hold for. Rancors are hard to trap, but at master ranger, you should have them stick most of of the time, if not all of it.

Sure that u can kill rancors.
I think all rancors at least up to Ancient Bull Rancor (level 95).
I'm rifleman 4224 now and I soloed 2 of this horrible mobs just 2 days ago on dathomir.
The first didn't discovered me and I killed him without armor with concealed shot (6-7 min).
The second moved toward me and I was discovered. I tried to kill him in melee as I'm TKA master too but I had several problems to wear the armor promptly and I took a lot of disease so finally I run away ruturning later to end the job.
