Our AE attacks seem to be bugged.
I tested this out on a dewback lair with gorgs right on top of them. Both are non aggressive creatures. I sent a pet on the dewback then hit flushing2. It SAYS it hits the monsters in the vicinity but only the dewback was hit. The gorg did not die from my 3000 shot (unless gorgs were severly upgraded with HAM). Oncea Gorg was in an attack state he would be affected by my AE shot even though I was targetting the dewback (which is how it should be). The monsters were right on top of each other so it wasnt a range factor.
So i think when fighting creatures who are naturally non-agressive or non-social our AEs will not work UNLESS they get in attack mode.

It's always been like this, and all AEs have the same problem. If a target is not in combat mode (doesn't matter if it's on you, a pet, or other people), the AE will do no damage even though combat spam says it does. This will aggro the target so all subsequent attacks will work properly.

This has always been the case, I think.
- If you depend on a pet, you have to group with it to get this to work while using the pet on them. Only those actually fighting your pet should be included.
- They have to go into combat with you or a member of your group to be affected.
- You can't depend on a even social creatures to include you in their targeting (aka, go into combat with you) from just shooting one of thiers. The now fixed concealment chance may fail for them and not your target, hense not getting them to target you.
Your test should be this: Forest Mites on Rori. The boss spawn as you hit the lairs last few hitpoits are many Mites, including the King and Queen. They are garenteed to alltarget you. Bet it hits all of them, let me know ifyou get on before I do to test it myself.

AoE attacks have been buggy since last patch. I noticed that I would not damage some even if they were directly in front of me. My usual tactic was to target the lair and then use StrafeShot2. If a target closed to melee and was directly in front of me, even though he was in my line with the lair, he would not take damage. Also it seems they may have tightened the AoE cone. As some MOB's that use to be hit were no longer getting hit.
