hi, i read on the swg discussion forum that on test centre you cant fire through hills etc anymore. at first glance i thought nice change it will make the game a lot more realistic but when i thought of the consequences of this change i feel it penalizes rifleman more than any other profession. i am not a rifleman so i might be wrong but from what igather a rifleman is most effective at 60-64 m and so the chances of there being an obstruction between you guys and your target is higher then for other professions (since we are more effective at shorter range). anyway just thought you guys should be aware of this.

Well that means no more Dathomir for me

It will hurt every class except melee.

*Sighs* sheesh you guys, realism is a lot better IMHO... when am targetting somethign with my rifle, I always go into FP view to see if anything is obstructing my shot... if it is I will always try to find a better position.

Hell if the Developers decided that standing in the way of a target that was fired upon meant you got hit... I'd still not whine, because I think that is one of the crazy things in the game... is that you can run through a crossfire and not get wounded one single bit...

Besides think of it this way, if it affects players, it will affect NPCs and Monsters too, so stop complaining... it's not a nerf, it's a fix.

No offense, but I doubt it will affect npcs, they still can shoot you and attack you while swimming. We can't do anything but get shot or beat on. If the npc's can't then no biggie, but I see this as a bad thing. The terrian is to wierd in alot of areas for this to be realistic.

it doesnt work with this game

you are limited to a measily 64 meters...if my shot was obscured in real life I could back out and get to a higher elevation. But if you did that, you'd be out of the 64 meter cap.

So we have to pay more attention to our approach on a target, big deal, I do that now.
Especially after I got my first cone attack, not wanting aggro the wrong stuff.

It's no different then real-life. I've had a few things that it'd be tricky to hit if I couldn't shoot through hills, but ah well, all the more challenge

Yes, still here, least physically.

same here, i already use LoS as is appropriate, and thats not a nerf, thats a serious bug fix.

remember you have other weapons available then Laser Rifle or T21 if you need to go medium or short range with entirely differently set range penalties and a lot lower HAM costs.

This move is a nerf to riflemen more than anything else, but the realism is worth it....However, we still need a lot of love in accuracy, damage, and mind costs.

I understand the need for realism but this makes it almost impossible for us to shott from our ideal range on many plants. And if we get our range increased it will be just that much harder to get a decent shot off.

I don't really consider it a nerf, it's just a minor inconvenience.

I try to avoid shooting through stuff already. For one thing I don't like not seeing my target and second it just annoys me that the game works like that. If I can't shoot him through the mountain he better not be able to shoot me either.

it would make the game more realistic, kinda like how one skinny tree stops me from shooting a 50 foot long fambaa. you know that sony is all about realism right, so it only makes sense.

also that fambaa gets a personal wormhole generator so he can warp right on top of me, just like on the discovery channel! i like how the game is becoming more realistic. Just like i see on TV!

who needs things like content, class balance, T-21's on radiant, working guild chat, and proper AP ratings when we can have realism. I'm absolutely 110% convinced that such an addition will not cause further problems and bugs! call me miss suzy sunshine but i'm an optitmist and I truly belive that.

Yes but check out last Friday's feature, we have lots of really really cool gardens we are working on!!!

I just wish they would drop every **edit** thing they are "working" on, and fix every single bug once and for all. Cause we all know that while we won't be able to shoot through a hill, there'll be something ridiculously screwed up about the fix. An example, while we wont be able to shoot through a hill, for some strange reason the NPC's will (must be the force!!).
