Thread: 3-1-0-1 or 2-1-1-1?

What is the best tree to complete first? I have the option of moving to 3-1-0-1 or 2-1-1-1 but I am unsure which way to go.

I have read previous threads and advice can be conflicting. Please help !!

Also, I currently hunt Naffs on Corellia but is there a better, faster way to gain XP. Preferably no DB\aggros !! ;O)

Lastly, how can someone level up the last tree (the combat XP tree - Rifle Abilities I think) without any other trees? Is this just a personal choice not to move up the other trees.

And this is definitely last, can I surrender the last Marksman tree and but the Xp to Rifle Abilities?

Thanks in advance fellow Riflemen, and Riflewomen !!

1) Finish off the sniping tree first. That is where all your accuracy mods come from.

2) I use a T21 with 220-550 dmg (damage slice) with 33% speed powerup. Go hunting Savage Quenkers on Dantooine. Missions pay out around 6500-7k, they are aggro w/odb, but generaly only 2 spawn at a time with around 7k ham. At rifleman 4-3-3-3 I can use headshot2 and kill them in about 3-5 shots with out them aggroing me and get about 4k xp. Use good brandy and they should not pose a problem.

3/4) 4th box is dependent on your combat xp (generaly about 1/10 your weapons xp) and you can't transfer the combat xp from the marksmen skill boxes to rifleman abilities.

No we cannot help you remember your ATM pin. But I'd echo the poster above and say Sniper tree should come first for skills however if you ever want to use the DXR6 you'll need to do that 3rd tree eventually.

What I did, and it seemed to serve me well, was go up the sniping tree first (BTW, I had enough combat xp to immediately get 3 boxes of Rifle Abilities). Then get conceal shot because it is very useful when soloing at a low level. Then go up Counter-Sniping so you can get Flushing Shot 2 and the DXR-6b cert. Then back to Concealment to finish it off.

That is a long way of saying go 3,1,0,1

To the last question, yes of course !

Its what I did yesterday to get the nec. SP to rise to Rifleman 2-1-0-1.

I dropped my Marksman to 4-0-0-0.

Snark7,

You are correct that SP (SkillPoints)can be recovered and reinvested into other skills; however, you misread his question. He did not ask aboutrecovering the SP; he asked about recovering the XP (eXperience Points). In other words, unless he is using the wrong terms, he is asking if he can get back the Combat XP he spent on Ranged Support and invest it in Special Abilities. And the answer to that question is what the first poster said, No. Once you spend XP on a skill, that XP is lost forever. You have to go back out and work for more. The SP used, however, will be recovered and can be reused elsewhere. AP (apprenticeship points) used for Master are a special type of XP, and once they are spent, you cannot recover them either.

Im RM 1 1 1 1 - at this early stage, I find quenker hunting suits me fine. They pay 5K and each quenker gives about 3K XP. Plus they dont DB and dont agro out as long as I use conceal shot - 3 shots usually gets them. I am always unarmoured and only have a shot of brandy to buff my mind. Working fine so far. Will migrate to savage quenkers as soon as I get headshot 3.
