I dont have enough skill pts to make master rifle

I was wondering... could I get enough rifle speed skill

tapes to reach the +100 speed cap on rifle even as a

super duper rifle novice 1/1/0/0?

Thanks

In theory you could do it. You'd need +70 rifle speed to hit 100, though in truth you only need to hit something like98 rifle speed to hit the speed cap. In order to do that however you'd probably have to get 10 +6/+8 rifle speed tapes, which I would guess start at 1 million credits and go up from there.

The other thing you need to remember is that gives you very little acess to decent specials, and you also miss out on most of the accuracy modifiers. The Mindshots really aren't worth the time now, you don't have headshot 3, you don't have any AOE attacks which are the rifleman's specialty. The only thing you would really be somewhat effective at doing would be using conceal shot to kill something, and while it sounds great mobs tend to agro somewhere during the process, (they get very low level bleeds and come after the prone rifleman). I've also found that having the sneak skill is very important while using conceal shot, as it lets you move around to a new firing position as needed. (This will especially be true when the new LOS changes go in)

So, while I think it's possible to hit the speed cap at novice; I doubt it would be worth the effort and cash involved.

It's impossible to get +100 rifle speed at only Novice. You could hit the cap autofiring a spraystick, but that's not so impressive. If you wanna max out on tapes, +25 is the limit. Honestly, Rifleman is absolutely horrible until you get at least 3/4 through the tree and it's still pretty darn bad from then until Master. If you don't go all the way, you're better off with something else.

I don't think so. I've read somewhere that the max effective bonus you can get from clothes and armor is +25. Everything after that will add on to your bonuses but won't be effective. I guess the number in your abilitymodifiers column is bugged when displaying the totals with a bonus higher then +25. Can someone confirm me on this? I'm not 100% on that.

+25 is the limit for all SEAs and other attribute-enhancing items.

At Novice Rifleman, you have a personal speed mod of 30 (35 if you are also a Master Marksman). Ignoring non-rifle specific specials (i.e., like Overchargeshot, Warningshot, etc.) and looking at the specials available to a Novice, here is how it breaks down.

Headshot1 has a special delayof 1.5.

Headshot2 has a special delay of 1.75

Mindshot1 has a special delay of 1.8

Mindshot2 and Strafeshot1 havea special delay of 2.

At +30 to +35 personal speed, you would need a 1.4 to 1.5 speed weapon to fire a normal attack at the speed cap. A1.0 speed weapon to fire Headshot1 at the cap. A.8 speed weapon to fire Headshot2 or Mindshot1 at the speed cap. And you would need a .7 speed weapon to fire Mindshot2 or Strafeshot1 (and therefore any available special at this point)at the speed cap.

To get a weapon to even 1.5 speed even given a 33% speed powerup and a 35% speed slice, you would have to start witha weapon speed of about 2.7. To get to .7 speed, you would need a starting weapon speed of 1.25. The onlyRifle you could get close to that kind of starting speed is a Spraystick.

You could add speed tapes or armor attachments (collectively known as Skill Enhancing Attachments or SEAs) to boost your Novice speed. There is a cap on what you can add from SEAs at +25. Therefore, assuming Novice Rifleman + Master Marksman and +25 from SEAs, the best a Novice could hope for is +60 personal speed.

At +60 speed, you would need a 2.5 speed weapon to cap witha normal attack, a 1.7 speed weapon for Headshot1, a 1.4 speed weapon for Headshot2 or Mindshot1, and a 1.3 speed weapon for Mindshot2 and Strafeshot1 (and therefore any available special) at the cap.

Again, assuming a 33% speed powerup and a 35% speed slice, to get to a 1.7 speed weapon, you would need a starting speed of 3.1, and to get a 2.5 speed weapon, you would need a starting speed of 4.5. The 3.1 speed weapon would, again, have to be a Spraystick. A 4.5 speed weapon would be in the starting range of an E11 or a Jawa if built for speed rather than damage or, possibly, a Krayt enhanced weapon.

So in answer to your question, for all practical purposes, it is not really possible for Novice Rifleman to expect to cap with anything other than the Spraystick, and even then, you have to get a good speed slice and use speed powerups to get close.

At 1/1/0/0 rifle you would need a 1.11 speed rifle and a +25 speed tape in order to fire all specials at the 1 second cap

At 1/0/0/1 rifle you would need a 1.4 speed rifle and a +25 speed tape in order to fire at the 1 second cap.

I have a 1.0 spraystick, lol
