Well, I havebeen getting into a bunch of Non-Solo ER groups on Drathomir recently, andso Iracked up a bit of cash. With these newly aquired funds I promptly went to a place that I knew sold good composite armor for pretty cheap (25K a piece, Bria Server, tell me if you know anywhere with better deals). After Getting decked out in the helmet, chest piece, boots, and legs, I tried to put on the gloves and it said that I was lacking stats. I can't figure out how this can be, because as far as I know stats never change in this game. What is going on here? Do I need to constantly eat some exotic food to keep this armor on? If so, what? Also, should an aspiring Rifleman/Combat Medic even be wearing heavy armor? Any light you can shed on this would be fantastic.

Because of the encumbrance on the armor you need to be buffed (or eat/drink enhancing things) in order to put on the armor. If I remember correctly its the secondary stats that counts! Check the stats on the armor and add up the numbers on the different stats to see what you are missing.

You need all your secondaries buffed..mind secondaries can be buffed with brandy..i drink 2 brandies and have all my health stats buffed...once the armour is on you are good to go. when the buffs run out your armour will stay on untill you remove it..then it's buff time again to put it back on.

As a Rifleman/CM, your role in groups should be to support everyone else from the rear. You shouldn't be needing much armor, if any. It can be tough to never take damage, so instead of that high encumberance composite that the tanks are likely wearing, you'd be better off with some lower encumberance armor. Unless you'll constantly be buffed....

Really though, you should be taking the least damage of anyone in the group and focusing mainly on keeping the others alive. Rifleman+CM=Best support soldier you can ask for

You can also slice the armor and hope for an encubrance slice, or just find a armorsmith that sells encubrance sliced armor.

Could someone suggest some good low encumberance armor for a Rifleman/Swordsman? I've got some decent red composite that I have a macro set to throw on if something gets close.. but I cant wear a full set. Usually the helmet, chest plate, boots and gloves. Not to mention I've had it so long (and I hardly ever buy insurance) that its probably not very good anymore.

Thanks

First off, I'm no AS. But here's what little I can contribute:

I think the best armor as far as cost/effectiveness is concerned would be the Marauder armor from the Marauder themepark on Endor. I don't use it myself, but many really seem to like it for its decent resists and easy HAM costs. One problem is that the 'full set' won't protect you everywhere- you'll need your own helmet, gloves and maybe a couple/few others.

Another 'option' is bone armor for its negligible HAM costs. Though I believe the resists won't satisfy most players.

The best armors after composite (I think) are: Ubese, Padded, and Chitin. (Dunno where Mabari fits into this equation.) Ubese and Padded can have high HAMs as well if I recall, but not quite to the extent of Composite. Chitinshould besomewhere in the middle.

The one, most important thing that I'd say 90% of people overlook or neglect are PSGs. The MKIII generators can give you very nice protection as well as AR1 with 0 HAM cost. Theirmain downside is fairly low durability. If you go out without armor, be sure to have several of these.

Im novice RM 1 1 1 1 and hardly have the need for armor. The only thing i buff is my mind with Brandy. Im novice medic as well so can heal my Health and Action using my mind pool.

I mostly do PvE (not quite ready for PvP with 1 1 11 :smileyvery-happy. I spam concealshot when I hunt solo (quenkers or Pikets on Dant)and in group hunts, Im usually 60m behind the others. There is really no need for armour as nothing gets close to you. Even at this early stage, I destroy the mind pool before the others finish on the health and action. Cant wait to grind my way up to master and then enjoy the full benefits of the profession.

I have a pet as well which I can use as a distraction if I get detected. Works great.

Hey I'm registered on June 28th also and been playing since beta. I just did NO grinding, took about 3 months off, and mostly fiddled around hunting stuff here and there. My armor question was also fairly noobish I never got serious about Rifleman (or anything else really) until the last couple months. Now I've manager to get more serious after finally taking the plunge and getting Master Scout, then using my old Christmas holo, then getting Master Artisan (per holo request). Now I'm trying to get a little more serious with Rifleman (although with no holo request.. just because I like it) so I can actually do a little holo hunting without getting slaughtered.

Not all of us are "Master Grinder" and on our 20th profession

Fascinating. Would that more people played at your pace, the servers would still be full!

It takes me forever to do professions as well. MBH took a solid 3-4 months. Rifleman has taken me a month easy.

Hehe - Ididn't play that much until recently. Maybe 2-3 days a week for fairly short periods of time (2-3 hours a session). I just need to regain my CH tree (after surrendering it for master artisan) so I can get a tank to keep the mobs at bay while I FlushingShot2 'em. After that, getting the rest of my Rifleman tree shouldn't be too bad

Armor also depends on who your hunting with, I"m a master rifle and a 4-4-4-2 doc, and I find I wear full armor 99% of the time when I'm not in a city. Yes, self buffing is a huge help, but if your hunting alone and conseal shoting, no armor. Your doing things like the geno lab or what have you get armor and buffed cause even hanging around the back is dangerous at times Just my 2 bits
