Thread: Weaponsmith wants to know: Is the Berserker Rifle any good?

Hello all.


Im a 12 points Master Weaponsmith and recently made a Berserker Rifle. I must say that I wasn't very impressed with it's stats, and was just wondering how it performed in the field.


It does Heat damage, which is O.K., but unlike most high end rifles, it has no Armor Piercing.


Using a spider fang in the projectile feed mech, damage only got to around 350-360(with a 40/40 dmg, 2.9 speed stock) and speed to around 5.1.




So how do these weapons perform in the field? Considering the scarcity of both the schematic AND the looted stabilizer that are necessary to make them, just looking at the stats it doesnt seem that they would be better than a Laser Rifle, much less a T21 or DXR6.

no ap + 80% resists = /cry

not very valuable in the current state of the game I am afraid

Considering that some nightsisters and many other creatures have vulnerablities to heat and 90% resist to every other damage type, I'd say any decent heat damage type is a welcome addition. There are far too many energy damage weapons. They have added heat and acid rifles, now we need kinetic and we will be set. I dont think we will ever see restraint damage type rifles

Berserker seems to only be good against very tough mobs that have high AP and resists, but are vulnerable to Heat. That's a very small number of mobs, but the Berserker does have some use.

pretty mucheverything with armor and high energy resist also has high heat resist. it is useless against anything that is not heat vulnerable, and i can't think of a single thing worth hunting with heat vuln.


if there was anything good with heat vuln, the commandos would have found it a long time ago.

Like any rifle, it has a niche that it fits very well. I have a 434 max damage Berzerker (without powerup). As master smuggler, I can slice terminals on Dantooine and get 40K+ Mokk and Janta missions. They are AR 0 and vulnerable to heat. I can strafe shot 2 an entire Mokk camp (5 Mokks) in just a few seconds, then switch to my Laser to finish of the lair. It takes more time to slice the terminals and find the good missions than it does to finish them off with the Berzerker.


Now for those wit Uber T21's and Jawa Ions and other rifles, the 40-80% resists may preclude the need for a Berzerker on these guys, who are also usually vulnerable to Stun.
