Hypothetically speaking, if there existed a master Weaponsmith/Master Artisan, who picked up Master Rifleman, who really had fun dabling in PvP, but sucked really bad at it even after trying and trying using all combinations of food (synthsteak, pikatta pie..) and all combinations of weapons (stun/non stun, krayt...)...
hypothetically speaking, would there really be any hope for this poor guy to be effective at all in PvP?

I think the answer to your question is probably "No". However, I posted because I wanted to say I liked your sig (the color management).

Actually, as a MWeap/MRifle, I PvP all the time, and do well. Just avoid the one-on-one fights, because you will loose.
Stick to the base assaults, guild wars, & faction events and you'll do ok. In those, there are enough other players on your teamfighting meleethat you can avoid melee al together, and your rifle can lend some much needed fire support.
Keep watch for players with weak or drained minds, those are victims to our head shots.
Keep watch for tanks that are giving your tanks trouble. If you can't hurt them either, try your Jawa. If that fails go back to the T-21 and start hitting them with flurry shots. The dizzy effect will givie your tank an opening for a knock down.
Keep watch for other ranged fighters in kneeling or prone positions. Spam them with flurry until you see a dizzy, then tag them with flushing to drive them up. When they fall on their ass, finish them off with head shots while they flop around.
Combat medic is a prime target for a few well placed head shots. Even if you don't kill them, without their mind, they're nothing but an armored bullet catcher.
If a Jedi is raping your line, get prone, select the weapon with the best range mod for the distance, and start in on his mind. You'll miss, and miss a lot, but with my acid rifle's +117 @ 54m, I can get in enough good licks to do the job.
When you see a tank running for you, spam flurry/suppressivewhile youburstrun, and prey.
Because you wont like where he's gonna put your rifle if he catches you.

im crap at pvp myself.
but now that decay is gone its more fun.
you onlylose your buff etc so i wouldnt worry.
what we do is in our last hour of playing we go overt, then covert again. that leaves us overt for 1 hour.
we then run arounf until we die. once we die we clone with some wounds and thats it

If you know how to play your character, then you can participate in PvP and be successful, depending on what you are willing to classify as successful. If you consider successful as being able to stand toe-to-toe with anyone, then, no, you will not be successful. If you consider it successful that you will be able to contribute to a fight, then yes, you can be very, verysuccessful. Therefore as was stated elsewhere, PvP for you will mean you mainlyparticipate in group fights.
With just Master Rifleman, you will not be able stand in the middle of a battle taking on all comers. Think of it like you thought when you were grinding rifle. You want a tank to keep the attention of your target. You stay back and pick and choose the best target unless you have no choice but to engage the one that has taken interest in you.
PvP for a non-stacker is the same. Fight in groups. Keep at your ideal range, which for Rifle is the outer edge of the battle. Skirt the fringes looking for targets you can engage.Let others tank for you.WIth no melee skills, you do notwant toattract the attention of someone with high HAM stats (i.e., buffed on all stats), who is wearing a PSG and high resist armor, andrunning on synthsteak. But you can pick and choose your targets smartly. If they have low stats (especially low mind), you can usually engage them safely from the appropriate distance. Do not get drawn into the middle of the fight. Stay on the fringes and you will do fine as long as you pay attention to your radar. Do not let red dots close on you. Do not even let blue dots get close to you. They could be someone using a group TEF to approach you to get in the first hit. Sometimes, this may mean disengaging from a target you are about to kill, but better to let one go and re-engage on your terms than to get killed by someone else before you can down your target.
And just remember that you are going to die. Everyone does. It is part of the game. You cannot control everything that is going on around you, so no matter how careful you are, someone is going to get to you. Accept it and just try to minimize it.

Pick up Master Fencer, and when that tank comes up to beat the poor rifleman, pull out the stun batton, and see him stop following you and go after the other riflemans.... make sure you are far enough from the other riflemans to cause some mayor damage on that Tank's Mind..

****How do I edit my posts..??****
Something else, if the tank starts hitting you make sure you use scratter hit, you will cause massive damage to his PSG/Armor, eventho you wont be able to nick his HAM, and what causes a longer delay, dying and having to get rebuffed, or having to go to an armorsmith vendor to look for a new chesplate... even worse.. not realizing that your checplate/helmet are gone and getting pwned even when buffed..

untill that siad tank starts useing TKM then that said fencer dies rather quickly , ive never had a problem killling fencer in PVP as a tkm , and i have being a master fencer to so that helps , but i find tkm alot better then fencer
but then again he ias not asking if he need defences he is asking can he pvp as a weaponsmith /rifleman , and the answer is yes you can easy
