Hey there,
just wanted to point you to warningshot. Its a skill you will get from marksman 0003. It will make critters and people run away from you. So if you have problems with creatures coming to close to you eat some citrus snow cake hit /aim and /warningshot. The creature will now run away from you (you may need several /warningshots on more dangerous creatures) and you will be able to land some /headshot s a lot easier while the creature is at distance.
I also suggest to get some speed slices and speed powerups for the grind. Another good idea is to get combat xp with another profession to fill up the speed line (rifleman 0004) before starting to grind the first three skill trees.

considering how buffs and armor makes us invulnerable (you can hit an enraged rancor lair and just let them munch on you) anything except /pointBlankArea1 is pretty much useless while grinding.. just get a buff, armor, brandy + canape, a speed sliced T-21 and +speed +min damage powerups and you're all set.. I mastered rifleman without any support professions in3-4 days of casual playing (that means one set of buffs per day)

Dont T21's eat up alot of ham though? If you are spamming special shots every few seconds dont that eat away at your ham?

If you get all your stats buffed w/ todays buffs and eat some food/drink, then you can equip full composite armor and spam specials until your buffs/food wear off w/o fear of losing anything---except maybe a suit of composite eventually. Hence this has been termed "god mode" or "button basher." Choose your flavor. It's a sore subject that's been beat to the ground and will continue to be, probably until the Combat Revamp sometime in the close future...who knows for sure.

this is an old trick, ive used it levelling rifleman 3 times ... if you also have suppression fire, once they're at the distance you want, you can pin them there for a while .... very handy stuff

Aolas is right. You want buffs and the right food and drink. For rifleman, you obviously want Mind foods and drinks. I have a weak-minded character (much like real life) and so depend heavily on Vasarian Brandy and Ahrisa.
You can find 400+ Vasarian Brandy that lasts 46+ minutes and is 49 fill (so you can take two), and you can find 400+ Ahrisa that also lasts well over 40 mins. Best stuff I have found is the stuff I have now: Brandy at 433, 46 minutes, Ahrisa at 418 (dont remember the time... 44 mins I think). Two of each of those and I spam Strafe Shot 2 with my 104 Mind HAM T21 without losing a drop of mind.

buffs+ 2 brandy+ 1 ahrisha+ maxed mind stat migration+ 80% kinetic+ pointblank area 1 macro on a lair= the quickest way to master. Plain and simple, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. A good fast t21 helps to with speed pup's.
