It's been awhile since I did the grind up to Master Rifleman. I'm about to start grinding again for Force-sensitive XP and am reading these posts about the best places to grind and am wondering : do you all use pets/tanks and send them into the nest, or just blast away with strafe shot 2 at the nest? I played around withusing a pet like that for a little while, but it was small and I think I'd need to go find a good non-CH one from a BE.
So are they necessary for good efficient grinding time?

Best way to do it if our coming from another combat template is to grind out all the Combat Exp first using your old template and slowly dropping as need be. Get box four....speed, then start grinding all the other boxes with your rfile. I got the combat exp in the squill caves..easy, but boring, and sometimes full.

I forgot to mention that I'm still a Master Rifleman. I was curious as to what other MRs tactics are using if they're grinding xp for force sensitive xp.

I rarely ever use a pet when I'm out grinding Rifleman XP. Usually I just post at ideal range and Mind/Headshot everything one at a time, or if the mood suits me, I'll Strafe2 the lair until eveything is dead. A pet might come in hand during the early stages of Rifleman, chiefly to help you with Flushing Shot, but once you're Master, you'll probably never need the pet again.

Yeah, he's right. At master you really don't need a pet. But I'm Master Rifle/Master Creature, and whipping out triplets with 11K health, light armour, 60 Kin resists, andintimidate really helps; Keeps them at ideal range, gets nasty poisons and diseases away from me, and is just plain fun to have pets out with you sometimes. I love em.

You really dont need pets no. Im about 20k combat xp from Master Rifleman now, and though I am infact a 2/4/2/4 CH, they are there for more fun then actual combat. They certainly saved my butt a few times thouh. I went CH only because I cant stand the TK craze right now on my server. Pikeman is a good class to go with Rifleman, from what I understand the Blocking stats off of one of Pike trees stacks with the rifleman Black. Otherwise, if yoru not into going CH, Id say TK or Swordsman.

I'm a new MR so I've been experimenting with various things...got my butt whipped today though...can laugh about it now...anyway, I use a non-CH lvl 10 BE pet, dalyrake. It's got decent HAM and I use when I use strafeshot2. I send it in to attack the lair. All the baddies attack it, and I strafeshot2, finishes things pretty quick. I'm talikng about mokks/jantas. Often theres more time required to get my pet out and put it away, lol. I have to admit though, that I like using mind attacks one at a time though. Less risky...

I'm with Maestro. I don't *need* to have my pets, but also I don't feel like I *should* be buffed for everything in the game. In several occasions I've taken on lairs and mobs while I have been unbuffed that the mobs normally should chew me up for breakfast. My wife told me last night "You need to be buffed to do those". I said no I don't I'll just send in my cats and droid first then shoot em down from range.
Sure enough red con mobs never touched me. Cats and droid held them at range and I just shot them down. Only buff I needed was a double shot of V. Brandy to keep my mind pools going.
Granted if I was buffed I probably could have killed them a lot faster, but without getting buffs I can be in the field anywhere in the galaxy in less then 20 minutes if I catch the shuttles. Finding buffs and getting those in order, and gettinginto asolo groupsometimes will take an hour or more depending on where the docs are compared to where I am going.
Unless I wake up in the morning and think to myself "I'll try Rancors today" most of the time I just head to the planet I want to hunt on, call my cats and droid, make my own little group and go nuts all day. I do keep a pixie and a muon gold on my toolbar though just in case I need a quick boost of one of my pools to survive.
Course I mostly play for the enjoyment as well and don't get hung up on how much money/exp I am making per kill, per hour.

I'm working on Rifleman, and I'm an MCH, and honestly, I've found that my pets have assisted me a lot. but then again, I'm hunting unbuffed, and unarmored. Just eat come canape and brandy every now and then if need be.
