Hey I'm a MR and i went out to the rebel baes the other day to play with the turrets. Well I get out there and I take cover and sloly make my way to 65m when at around 80+ meters away the small ones open up. Eh with my 80%Enrgy armor no biggy. but then BOOM! the Larger tower turrets open up at had to be 100m+ range! What the heck? I assumed the title"Sniper" would men we would have longer range then any weapon, or atleast close to it. My be this can be check for the combat revamp in patch..o hell at this race. Patch 28.1..heck im still waing for my Squadleader revamp. Which I heard was in Patch 10..and my friends are all waitin for there smuggler revamp adn commando revamps..wow this game really kows how to test a persons patace...
In closing! Heck make the Beserker Rifle a "Sniper" weapon with longer range like say 70m. You guys fowled that thing up forgetting the Serial number on one o the parts. I got like 9 schems for one.

Turrets are different than players with regards to 'Sniping'. They have longer range (90m I think), and do massive damage. If they are controlled by players they are deadly. Consider turrets to be equipment, and not a 'Sniper's' target. However, we can do some bigtime hurting on them with a T21 if we have a swordsman tanking for us.

Well if you want to stand stark still in one location for the rest of you characters life the dev's might be willing to give you that extra 16 meter range. Otherwise too many issues regarding reverse kiting and line of sight. Trees don't generate themselves that far out so you're being blocked by an invisible boulder.

i raide the corellia rebel base last night as well.
stupid turrets cant survive strafe shot 2 for more than a couple of shots. I did notice however that the small turrets are harder to hit than the large turrets. weird I know, but the small ones gave me more trouble than the larger ones
was busy mowing down rebel npc swapns when this master bounty hunter logged on and started stacking states..... poor guy was unbuffed however, so i introduced him to my t21

So what's the damage on this T21 you are using?

Snipers don't have longer range, they are more accurate. Comparing a rifleman to turret is like comparing a real life USMC scout/sniper to a 155m artillery cannon.

This maybe true, but isn't one of the devs excuses for not letting us shoot more the 64m because they had to do too much work on how far AI would recognize enemies?

Has something to do with players being clients that keep moving to the server and the server has to refresh your positiong and redraw everything around very often. If they increase the range of this 64 mts that may cause the servers to lag a lot in large battles. Turrets dont suffer much from that since they dont move and they are not clients.

I supose that is true, but they should still do something. Like someone above said, comparing a rifleman to a turret is like comparing a sniper to a 155. However, a sniper should still be able to shoot farther then some tart waving a pistol around. But this is another topic on many other threads so I will leave it at that.

Nope, the 64m limit is becuase if tecnology issues. Their servers dont take into consideration stuff outside this 64mts for combat purposes because they dont have the capacity for doing it.

Apparently they fixed it enough for turrets to engage you.
