Hello everyone,

I am a novice rifleman and I needadvice forplaying PvP. Once and a while my buddies and I will duel each other. Last night I dueled by commando buddy... he just kicked my arse... not sure if there is anything I can do there...

However, I dueled my docter friend. My first thought was to attack his mind only... since all other injuries can be fixed with a single D stim. So I head shot... and I head shot... and I head shot.... to make a long story short I was incapped twice and at that point his mind was only half depleated. I currently use a sliced dlt20a... damage maxes out at 220 I think... speed is like 6 secs.

How can I be more effective in PvP?

- Cheers!

Against Commandos and BH's:

Mindshot2 with a T21 and run like hell.

Against everyone else:

Mindshot2 with a T21, then switch to a DLT20a and start doing HS3's.
If they're wearing a helmet, use an E11 instead.

If you can't get a T21 --a laser rifle or E11 will do (though if you get a low roll with the laser rifle you'll have to reapply your Mindshot2).

You really need a high damage Mindshot2 to land, especially if he's a Zabrak and/or takes Muon Gold. If your target takes Muon Gold he can outregenerate just about anything you can throw at him with a DLT20a. Some people claim that Muon Gold is a rifleman's best friend, but that's not really true -- it's our worst enemy when the other guy is using it.

You'll also need at least novice medic and pick up some advanced stim-B's, preferably rated for over 350. That way if you land a good bleed, you can run around like a headless chicken and heal yourself while the bleed does the work.

Even against a doctor, I think it costs them more to cure MS2 than it does for you to fire it, and you're likely to get one tick.

Although if you want my REAL advice, forget about rifleman and go BH. Those are the only people capable of dishing out massive mind pool damage.

Is mind bleed the same thing as mindshot.

If so how do you know if you gave him a good mind bleed?

Mindshot is a move that bleeds your targets mindpool

To figure out if it's a good shot or not, switch fromt he spatial window to the combat window when fighting. It will tell you exactly how much damage you're dealing and how much damage you're taking per shot.

Yes. Whatever the value you hit him for with that shot is the value of the bleed. If you shoot him with Mindshot2 and see "-200" float off of him, that's a 200 point bleed.

If you're using a laser rifle you can get a low damage hit and you'll want to shoot again. With my T21 I can sometimes get up to about 400 with Mindshot2.

You might be in a lot of trouble if he's a MonCal doctor, though. They can do First Aid pretty cheaply and cancel your bleed.

As a novice rifleman you should not be PvP'ing. I know that sounds harsh, and I'm not saying that you can't win as a low level rifleman, but it almost seems a bit futile unless you're a master, because of the rate at which everyone will own you.
