Thread: Rifleman Manifesto!!!

1) YES, we deserve a 2.5x melee damage penalty.


2) YES, we deserve the dismal accuracy of a rifle at close range.


3) NO, we shouldn't be invisible on radar


4) NO, we do NOT need a Rifle Butt Strike melee move.



BUT.....


Having said that, here is the other side of the coin.


1) NO other profession should be able to do MORE damage, FASTER, MORE ACCURATELY, to a SINGLE TARGET at LONG RANGE thana MASTER RIFLEMAN. Not a commando, not a BH. NO ONE!!! Commando's should have high damage, AOEweapons and BH's have their own tricks, but SINGLE target long range combat is MY SPECIALTY!!!


2) A rifleman who takes the TIME and EFFORT to go prone and TAKE COVER should be very hard to hit and impossible to knock down and also have higher bonuses to his own accuracy.

NO, WE DONT DESERVE 2.5 INCREASE DO THE DAMAGE WE TAKE. unless we have a great deal more range then we have right now. if can start shooting targets from outside of 600m then maybe i would think about it. otherwise get rid of the the 2.5 should be the NUMBER 1 thing on every rifleman's list. nothing makes it harder to level and enjoy the game that that. period.

For balance i dont think we should have the 2.5 dmg penalty to melee atm.


To our SMALL optimum range and low accuracy we need to be able to do MASSIVE dmg in a short time to kill the mob while its in our optimum range. If it gets within 30m we are dead for the most part plus we also have HUGE HAM costs. This is why we are sort ofbalanced. That is we are balanced without the melee penalty and it just brings us REALLY far down.


IMO i want to keep the penalty and be compinsated for it in other ways...

Totally agree on the first 4, I like being different to other classes.Stealth is just unbalancing and buggy in mostMMOGs I've played or seen with it.


1) I agree about the do large damage at long range, disagree on the single target bit, I've grown to love my strafeshot2, and I'd miss it very much if it went away.


2) Being knocked down when prone always annoyed me. Cover needs some use, noone in their right mind goes prone with the short amount of time it takes to close the gap. If you're harder to hit when running than when in cover, then cover is useless.


One idea that I saw on this board a while ago (sorry I forgot the name of the person who put it up) was to let someone in cover shoot at 80m. While this on its own is unbalancing, if you added restrictions such as no AE attacks, no mind bleed andcan't be used on buildings,it could go some way to making cover slightly useful. Ican't see cover ever being any good at 64m, it's just too easy to close the distance.

i was the one that posted about being prone and under cover to give rifleman a range out to 84m



-range: as a master rifleman i start off a fight with a pistoler he hits mea total of 3 times by the time i fire my first shot off with pistols that can reach up to over 400 points of damage (i was resently shown a fgw5 with a damage of 62-422 and speed of 1.8) with a powerup and specials that will do 5x the damage i am looking at getting hit for over a 1000 damage before i ever get a shot off and that is if i can hit a moving target. riflemen need range. we need to be able to reach out farther then 64 metter limit of the pistol. (here is an idea if a rifleman is prone they get an extra 20 meters or maybe add cover and prone).

Although your post says almost the same thing.


I don't think riflemen will ever get a range advantage over any of the other professions unless it involves something like using cover.
