Thread: After much testing, the 2.5x melee damage we get is too much to overcome.
My wife is a master bio-engineer, my sister is a master tailor. I had my wife make me the best possible melee defense tisses she could, which were a +4 bonus to melee defense. I have not seen any better by anyone, seems that might be the max. I had my sister make me an outfit that took used these specific tisses. After all was said and done, my toon, which was already at +22, now got a +16 bonus to make my melee defense +38.
After examining the melee defense bonuses for the brawler tree, I realized that my character had more melee defense than any mastered profession in the game (I could be wrong, but I double-checked). Despite this huge bonus, I still get the crap kicked out of me by melee PCs, NPCs, and creatures. The damage they do has been reduced, but by very little. The problem lies, quite obviously, in the 2.5x more damage we take than anyone else. Instead of being punched in the face for 1200 damage, it's now 1000. Well that's still enough to one-shot me, so that's no good.
Yet my wife, who's also a pistoleer, when wearing the same outfit has a great melee defense bonus that shows. She can take an extra 2-3 hits usually, at least, by higher level mobs.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know. It helps, surely, but that 2.5x more damage we take is just too much to overcome. ![]()
I love the people that one-star a post, yet do not reply. I see it happen to others all the time. I truly believe there are people in this world that enjoy doing this, it gets them off or something.

Not relating to the 2.5x prob but how the hell you get your wife to play. Since Im adicted to SWG she gets all mad about how I play so often. Howd you get your wife hooked? Im trying but nothing seems to work... I figure if she gets hooked then she wont complain as often.
It is not too much.
All it takes is tactics. Yes, xping takes a long time. Yes, you have to be careful. Yes, you must choose your targets wisely. Oh well. If you wanted the game to be easy, play pistoleer/BH mix.
If the warping mod gets fixed, thing will improve. As a novice, you gotta be careful. But I can make 20-30k xp in an hour or 2, as a 1-0-0-0 rifleman SOLOING, no pets. It's not that tough. In fact, it's fun.
And just wait till you get the GOOD attacks. Flushing 2 = ranged death in a cone.
god... Im sounding like SilverLobo....

You don't even need that. Just some wise play and wise tactics. A pistol for warning shots, just no dedicated pistol skill, is all that's really necessary. I've soloed Ikopi Stags without being hit (10k hams and 60% energy resists), and I only have 1-0-0-0 in rifleman. That's it.
Like someone's sig says, "know you enemy, or you will become the hunted"...

She loves video games, that's all. And she also happens to like the SW universe. She wasn't going to play at first, but after the first 3-4 days I was playing the game, she wanted her own copy.

Or they could do the right thing and only apply it when you are prone/cover. Makes sense no? Thought that was what was intended. Hmmmm....

Clearly anyone who gets some melee defense tissues should be able to tank anything in the game. I can't believe a Krayt does more than 1 damage to me with melee defense tissues. "the 2.5x melee damage we get is too much to overcome." = good.
What a way to be an ass.

Also, melee defence has nothing to do with damage mitigation.. so a 1200 hit would still be a 1200 hit.. melee defence= damage avoidance.
I wasn't aware. Thanks for the information. So you're saying, since it's "avoidance", that my opponents should be missing more? I'll have to check on that.

Don't understand what you're talking about. I don't need XP, I'm done and capped out on it. I don't want the game to be easy at all, I'm just trying to figure out a way to cut down on the melee damage I take. And yes, I play with good tactics for the most part, and if you think flushing2 deals a lot of damage in a cone, try strafe 2. My main issue is the melee damage I take, because of warping mobs. Thus I try to see if this is a possible solution, and it's obviously not.
Shouldn't be too hard for you to completely solo however, since although you don't take spice, you can easily give yourself buffs as a Master Doc.
