Thread: PvP Tactics: Whoever said that you had to make a fight be only one round?
Heavy weapons and pistols are good in close, typically. Rifleman are good from a distance...
Then why is it that most riflemen stand their ground when they PvP, letting those baddies get in close?
The answer is this: they aren't using their heads.
Now, picture this scenario....you're standing in a field with that big ol' Imperial banner next to your name. A red con comes within 64 m, fires one shot and you return fire.
That red con was a rebel rifleman, and he hits you for a good chunk of mind damage, causing a steady bleed. Since you're equipped with a pistol (most likely -50 to hit at 64m) you miss, or land just a glancing blow on your attacker, who is now well outside your 64m range.
Of course, you follow after this sniper who runs for his 6 (4 or5for a laser rifle)seconds then fires again, knocking you down to a third of your mind bar. You fire your second shot as you charge in, spamming your most powerful pistoleer attack.
Your enemy takes off to run again, another 6(4 or 5 for laser rifle)seconds, then opens fire with a different weapon this time: an E11. Like you, he now fires his highest headshot, now once every 3 seconds or so. You get in pointblank, where you know you have an advantage, but the rifleman has changed to yet another weapon, a spraystick, and he's still spamming low level headshots... You're incapped and easily killed with a simple deathblow.

This scenario may be a bit simplified, but there is a gun for every situation and it costs little to nothing to switch between them. So why do rifleman insist on using the laser rifle when its horrible in close? Why stand your ground when you can fire instantaneously and then spend your refresh time on your rifle running away, keeping that 64 m distance?
If people know their advantages and disadvantages as well as those of their opponents, they can play to your advantage. Fight on your terms. It'll help you win much more often.

Have you ever seen laser rifle? Look at them and tell us what range modifier you see on range 64. Basicaly every rifle except T21 I am using now (Thank you Stryker) had 2 negative modifiers. Show me another weapon except heavy weaponry which have that.

Running rifleman? Rifleman dont get any bonus to accuracy while runningtill master and till master he cant waste any shot because he fire slowly. Spraystick. Lol. Using 90+ mind with every shot will get rifleman incapped much faster than you think.
Question on the end. Are you rifleman? Have youever seen a rifle? Are you playing SWG? No offence.
i've actually never used a mind bleed at master rifleman/master marksman - and maybe i'm just paranoid about it, but HS seems to miss too often.
it seems to be much more effective to open combat at max range and stand my ground. firing strafeshot 2 with a poweredup T21 or Jawa Rifle - i have a very good chance of taking anything in three to fiveshots. often without taking more than minor dmg to health or action. I sometimesdo move a bit, sometimes a lot, depending on how many enemies.
Ok, fine, let me amend my post:
60 meters for a laser rifle, wow, huge difference, as everyone I've seen centers there for ideal range. Afterall, I did say oversimplified.
And for your other point, the modifier while running is only when you are running AT THE TIME OF THE SHOT. Sure, it takes a familiarity with your weapon to know when you need to fire, but we get that cool fade to transparency to give you an idea when you're refresh is almost up.
And yes, I have used a rifle, thank you very much. And no, my head is not shoved where the sun never shines. I'm just sick to death of reading these "Give us our one shot kill back because we aren't smart enough to fallback to stay in our ideal range or switch to another weapon that has a better close range. " Yeah, rifleman has its drawbacks, but superior thinking will always defeat a more skilled opponent, and decimate an equal one.
So if you don't like my approach, think of your own bloody one. Because at 20m, you WILL lose to a pistoleer every bloody time, its a fact of life. If you aren't going to be constructive with these, you should talk to Sony and see if they'll put the rest of the freakin' bellyachers in a forum all to theirselves and be able to throw their pity party without spamming this board full of stuff that people really don't care to see.
Tips, Strategies, and constructive comments is what this board is for. Complaints about nerfs are for our wonderful correspondent, who will bring this information to the devs.
