Thread: 2 Encounters with pistol users
OK. I just lost two PvP encounters that I would not have lost had this been a balanced game.
1) A pistol user and me (rifleman) notice each other on radar at 87 meters. He runs toward me and I go prone and begin to spam headhsot before he even gets into range.He gets to 64 meters and I MISS!!!!!!! He hits me with 3 Disarming Shots within 2 seconds and I'm knocked down. This is even more disconcerning since I was PRONE!!!! How do you get knocked down if you are prone?????HE casually walks up and gives me a 1300 damage stopping shot at point blank range. GAME OVER.
2) A pistol user and me notice each other on radar at 75 meters. I see him getting closer and decide to go prone to cap him with a headshot as soon as he comes into range. Once again, I spam headshot as he nears the 64 meter mark. Next thing I know, I am hit with 2 Eyeshots for 913 and 864 damage within about 2 seconds!!!!I didnt even get a shot off.
What is wrong with this? 2 MAJOR things.
1)RANGE.
AS ALMOST A MASTER RIFLEMAN, I DEMAND MY RANGE/ACCURACY ADVANATGE!!!!!!. THERE IS NO WAY A PISTOL SHOULD HIT ME AT 64 METERS BEFORE I HIT HIM!!!!!! Neither of these guys missed! Not even once! I got one shot off in the first encounter and missed. I didnt even get to fire in the second encounter. Both these guys opened fire at 64 meters and didnt miss a SHOT!!!!!!!!! First was using a FWG5. Whats the ideal range on that? 25 meters? The second one hit twice for almost 2000 mind damage at 64 meters with a Scatter Pistol with an ideal range of 8 (!!!!!!) meters!!!!!!!!
2) DAMAGE (DPS)
My E11 Rifle hits for about 700 damage every 4 seconds. Yes, a laser rifle will hit for over 1000 but it can also hit for 80 if you get a bad roll. Plus, even a good sliced laser rifle can only fire about once every 3 to 4 seconds. I got hit with Eyeshot for 913 and 864 damage within 1 second of each other from a pistol!. People talk about nerfing damage in PvP. IDISAGREE! Damage doesnt need to be nerfed. PISTOL damageneeds to be nerfed.
I believe that there should be a balance among weapon lines. It has always been said that the intent was to make pistols accurate at close range, fast firing, but for lower damage. Rifles are long range, slower firing but for higher damage. Carbines are somewhere in between. The way it is now, Pistols are the fastest firing, highest damage weapons at ALL ranges!! Where is the balance?
Although I don't believe that two negative accounts can really make up that great of an argument, I do agree, the way range and dps work now (pistoleers v. rifleman) is insane.

Pistols have no disadvantages. Even the best melee class in the game is a Pistoleer, and that's no joke. (Or it is a joke, but it's still true.)
Pistoleers will hit you with near 100% accuracy at 64 meters, even if you're prone and covered. Add to this the fact that their damage-per-second is triple ours and you have a problem.
By combining the BH's pistol branch with accuracy and speed trees in the pistoleer proffesion a charachter is able to fire off 2-3 shots a second with pin point precision at 63 meters, even while running.
With the ability to do eyeshots for 700-900 mind damage each, this is an overwhelming advantage in both single PvP and group PvP.
Two things need to happen:
1. BH accuracy/speed modifiers should be unable to stack with the accuracy/speed modifiers in the main professions.
2. The accuracy system needs to be given a make over. Pistols should find it difficult to shoot past 30 meters and impossible to hit anything past 45 meters. Carbineers should find it hard to hit anything not between 15-45 meters. Rifleman should find it difficult to hit anything below 40 meters andalmost impossible to hit something within 25 meters.
Get a high quality spraystick made by a master weoponsmith then get it sliced. The dmg on mine is something like 22-180 2.0 speed. I was doing great in a pvp raid I did the other day in anchorhead, dropping people in 2 or 3 head shots and firing them super fast. The whole dmg variance thing is'nt as bad as you would think. It basicly works almost as good as the eye shot attack bhs have minus the debuff.
Rifleman have one huge advantage.
You hit the mind pool.
Most people have small mind pools and no one can heal mind dmg. So in that sense you have a HUGE advantage over pistoleers.
BH's are another story all together and they smoke every one equally.

A 1300 damage attack is a one hit kill to any HAM bar. Mind pools can't be healed but neither can the dead.
I don't think mind damage is kind of advantage.
Just to clarify,
Pistoleers do not have eye shot...thats a BH special. See my above comment about how they own everyone equally.
If I wear a helment and your 1300 shot head shot gets knocked to 750 I could heal it....but I cant heal mind damage.....so next shot and I die.
I can pvp and win against 2-5 people when things are going right...till I meet a rifleman or BH....then I am done for, slam right in the mind pool...cant heal it and out I go.

Point being, Pistol, combined w/BH skill is retardedly over powered and should not be allowed to stack. People are always complaining about how Rifle does Mind dmg and cant be healed, blah blah blah I hear it everyday when this debate comes up, but as Zarl0k pointed out:
Mind damage is pointless when damage is so fast you can't even heal it to begin with.
Had I known I was going to be this gimped I wouldnt of choosen this Profession, but I've put too much time into it to sacrafice the points. Im not looking for a nerf to any class because it just becomes a downward spiral as they over nerf every friggin issue that comes up
. Probots anyone? Spent 20k on mine and it now has 800hp...only time I ever use it anymoreis ....wait, I dont.![]()
